Dr. Who Reaction - The Star Beast

This episode is presented to you, by Chat GPT... For real if it weren´t for that tool you wouldn´t be able to see this video today.

My PC completely crashed during the reaction, and the save file was corrupted. Only with the help of Chat GPT have I been able to repair the file and edit it.

Oh and I had to rerecord the first recording on OBS again, because the repaired file only contained one soundfile instead of two, and my voice was completely gone. So I had to play the corrupted file that for whatever reason was playable on VCL Player and record that video with OBS again, afterwards remove the videofile and the soundfile of the episode, and edit that "My voice only file" to the repaired file with one soundfile only.
And only then was I able to edit the video. Which by the way I had to do comletely manually this time, because the software that helps me editing at least the Intro and Review automatically, wasn´t able to read those 2 mixed files that I had created. Which meant slow oldschool editing, that took hours for Patreon only.

Long story short, this video was a nightmare to edit, and we can all be very happy about it´s existance in the first place :) So be happy, and enjoy :)

I loved that plunger joke :D And the whole skit, those kind of specials really round up the stories of this show so well :) I completely agree with the screwdriver issue. Since I don´t know how they´ll handle it in the future I can oonly hope for them, to get back to the old fashioned type of the sonic screwdriver. Thank you for letting me know about the audio issue, unfortunately I can´t change it now. I would have to take down the whole post including the comments. Since it´s only about 5-10 minutes, I hope it´s ok. Sorry for the circumstances though. After hours of editing and trying to get this episode online, my concentration just slipped which caused this inconvenience. :/

Yeah you might be right about that one. That´s a possible reason. Thank you :)

I’ve just thought, I think the reason the Doctor was a bit careless around Donna when saying that he had two hearts, giving the sonic to her and naming it a sonic screwdriver, is because the Doctor was connected to Donna, and so his subconscious knew that the power of the metacrisis was being shared between Donna and Rose, and talking about the things she didn’t remember wouldn’t be harmful to her.

The Gallifreyan Rebel

"Once upon a time ... I had a best friend, and her name was Donna Noble", The Doctor, "The Star Beast" It was wonderful to get a David and Catherine story again - I loved it. Now, I'm going to be careful about spoilers - not spoilers for the show, I'm always careful about them - spoilers for anything they talk about in the "Unleashed" episodes. "Since we're called Kaleds, I thought our future selves could be an anagram of Kaled. Like ... Lekad.", Castavillian. "Destination: Skaro" The "Kaled"/"Dalek" anagram idea had been around since "Genesis of the Daleks" when we first met the Kaleds - indeed the Doctor himself mentioned in the story. But it was fun to see a character trying to come up with the right anagram. BTW: We hear another character off-screen calling for Davros - that is Nyder and we saw him as Davros's subordinate in "Genesis of the Daleks". However, it is Nick Briggs giving an impression of Peter Miles - the original actor who died in 2018. "I like it.", Davros, "Destination: Skaro" And just plain funny to see how the Daleks got their iconic plunger. The Children in Need special was filmed well after "The Star Beast" episode - actually it was filmed on David's birthday. "Oh, hold on. Hold on. Let me help.", The Doctor before seeing Donna and replacing the boxes, "The Star Beast" I wasn't spoiled for the appearance of Catherine Tate - I'm not in the UK and can mostly avoid Doctor Who spoilers. So it was wonderful to see her again. "That says Grand Mistress.", "Oh, catch up.", Shaun and the Doctor about the psychic-paper, "The Star Beast" Funny. "I fell from the stars. I hurt my paw.", The Meep, I did know about the Meep character - and therefore the plot twist - because the Meep had been written about (not in a TV story) in the 1980s. But it was delightfully portrayed in the episode - and delightfully voiced, both before and after the twist. "No, no, he's not there. You can't see him. And there's no monster.", Sylvia Noble, "The Star Beast" That chaotic scene with the Doctor appearing, Donna complaining about the "Martian", the Meep going "Meep, meep", Sylvia slapping the Doctor, and Shaun finally turning up - was hilarious. "I think we need to run.", The Doctor, "The Star Beast" I agree that creating the slabs of force-field with the sonic is a plot device that, although useful in this episode, is probably too powerful a feature for future stories. I, personally, like the sonic screwdiver to be used just like a simple tool rather than a multi-function do-anything hi-tech device. It actually reminds me that there was a period in Classic Who where they got rid of the sonic screwdriver completely because the production team felt it was being overused. But it is iconic which is why it came back. When the Doctor suggests to everyone that they make a run for it, he gives a jogging gesture which reminds me of the same situation with Queen Victoria. "This is a sonic screwdriver, and if it's good at one thing ... it's resonating concrete.", The Doctor, "The Star Beast" This is the sort of thing I want from the sonic! - and, as mentioned below, it recalls "The Doctor Dances" when the Doctor was trying to resonate concrete with the sonic in order to escape. "This court is now in session.", The Doctor, "The Star Beast" This court scene, and especially pulling out the wig, reminds me of a scene in a Tom Baker Classic Who story - and that was deliberate. In the episode commentary track (with David Tennant, Phil Collinson, and Vicki Delow) they talked about it being a callback. "The Wrarth Warriors were summoned, and we fought across the stars a long and awful battle.", Zreeg, "The Star Beast" The Wrarth Warriors may look like just a person in a suit, but if you examine them closely they are quite a bit taller than a person - and their legs go the wrong way. The creature movement coordinator was Paul Kasey who was an Auton in the first New Who story and was in a monster costume for lots of later Doctor Who stories, and Torchwood, and The Sarah Jane Adventures and the Prom concerts. "A creature with two hearts is such a rare thing. Just wait till I tell ... the Boss.", The Meep, "The Star Beast" BTW: you left full episode audio in the reaction after the recording incident. "Ha-ha-ha! Oh, this is amazing! It changed! Oh, you clever thing!", The Doctor on seeing his new TARDIS interior, "The Star Beast" The new TARDIS console room is incredibly beautiful. It's a shame Donna blew it up.
