"Is it too late to choose another group?", Dr John Polidori, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
This is a nice spooky story with a nice series tie-in. I don't mind the story hitting all the classic spooky cliches - it makes it fun.
"Yes, because it is a truth universally acknowledged ...", "Wrong writer!", Graham and the Doctor, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
Funny! Graham quotes from a Jane Austen novel which was published in 1813 just 3 years before. So I imagine that this literary group would have known about it.
"What do you speak of? What is a zombie?", Lord Byron, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
A "zombie" in the sense of a reanimated corpse is actually reasonably modern - around the 1970s - although the origin of the word has an older meaning as a malevolent ghost from Haiti in around 1780 and probably an African language before that.
"My third canto. Of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, my work in progress.", "Nah, it goes on a bit, that one. No offence. Nice mention of Ada, though. Big fan of hers.", Lord Byron and the Doctor, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
Oh, a mention of Byron's daughter, Ada - who we've already met in this very series in the "Spyfall" story!
"You appear courageous, but your vital signs betray a heightened state of anxiety.", "Or as I like to call it - Tuesday.", Cyberman and the Doctor, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
I do like Jodie's Doctor's banter with her foes.
"My name was Ashad. ... And I did have children. I slit their throats when they joined the resistance.", Cyberman, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
That's a nasty backstory.
"One Cyberman, but then thousands. Humans like all of you changed into empty, soulless shells. No feeling, no control, no way back. I will not lose anyone else to that.", The Doctor, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"
Which is likely a reference to her most recent loss: Bill Potts.
"A last-minute, imperfect, all-I've-got plan. Saving Shelley was step one.", "What's step two?", "Fix the mess I created in step one.", The Doctor and Yaz, "The Haunting of Villa Diodati"

A better episode (which shouldn't necessarily be taken as too much of a compliment!) For me the most memorable element was the creepy people that Graham saw at the top of the stairs. Genuinely freaky.
Otherwise, a solid entry.
