Can we rely upon you?", C, "Spyfall: Part One" Fun to see Stephen Fry in a Doctor Who story - well, Sir Stephen Fry as of the start of this year. BTW Sir Stephen had been in an animated/webcast story back in 2001 playing a Time Lord, but it's nice to see him in a TV role - well, a short-lived TV role. BTW: The Doctor mentioned Stephen Fry's name in "The Husbands of River Song" so he exists within the Doctor Who Universe. "Dedicated to the memory of the Masterful Terrance Dicks.", dedication on "Spyfall: Part One" Terrance Dicks was the script editor during most of the 3rd Doctor's era and wrote stories for the 2nd, 4th and 5th Doctors. He was also the writer for more than 60 of the Classic Who novelizations (like the ones RTD and Moffat mentioned in their book interview). He is remembered here for his contributions to Doctor Who and for being one of the originators of the character of the Master in Classic Who. He died in 2019 not long before this episode was transmitted. "It's always good to keep a backup of one's work. Tissue compression, it's a classic.", The Master, "Spyfall: Part One" The Classic Who Master had a miniaturizing device called a Tissue Compression Eliminator (TCE) which this Master used to eliminate the original O. Classic Who viewers had seen this all the way back in the Master's very first appearance but it hasn't been seen in the New Who Master/Missy until now. I like (well, I am appalled by) the way the Master nonchalantly throws the matchbox with the miniaturized dead original body away. But I do like the performance by the actor here. "They're not toys, Graham.", "No, they're not, Ryan, and if you say otherwise, I will shoot you with my laser shoe.", Ryan and Graham, "Spyfall: Part One" I love the excitement that Graham and Ryan have when they see the spy equipment. They are fun characters.
