Ashley

It doesn’t take me long to reach the top of the Final Stairwell. At which point I find myself at the peak of the tower. Where I find a certain humanoid tiger waiting for me.

And the Unique Monster’s true form looks way too happy to see me. Especially when he runs straight up to me and pulls me into a hug while exclaiming, “You did extraordinarily well, Young Miss Chaos!!! I’m proud to have you as my Young Miss from this day forward!”

I repeatedly pat him on the shoulder as he squeezes me too tightly, practically almost crushing me in the process. But it still takes him a second to realize what he’s doing before he puts me down again. And even that’s mostly because little Leo hisses while hitting the guy’s legs with his little paws. Clearly wanting the Unique Monster to put me down as well.

Even after putting me down, though, the Unique Monster, Veldray Qual Ron, takes a step back before kneeling before me. Then he makes a declaration while tilting his head to look up at me with what’s practically stars in his eyes.

“Henceforth, you shall be my Young Miss, and I will do everything in my power to make sure you and the master are as comfortable as possible!”

Well this is getting more and more uncomfortable by the second.

“Leave her be,” Chaos’ voice suddenly echoes out over the top of the System Tower, which I only now realize is situated in the middle of some frozen wasteland. Probably an effect of the Tiger of Eternal Snow living here. “You’re bothering her.”

Veldray looks at Chaos with even more stars in his eyes before he starts to apologize for his actions. Only for Chaos to snap his fingers and quite literally make tape appear over the humanoid tiger’s mouth.

Not that it makes him stop trying to talk.

“Don’t mind him,” Chaos says with a smile directed at me while ignoring the guy talking through his taped up mouth with stars still metaphorically shimmering in his glowing pale blue eyes. “Just go claim your rewards for clearing the System Tower from the totem over there.”

I glance in the direction he’s pointing to find a large, pale blue totem at the center of the tower’s peak. With a throne at the other end of the peak from the staircase. No doubt one belonging to the Tiger of Eternal Snow.

Rewards sound nice.

I look back at the tiger again to find him no longer trying to talk. Instead he’s just looking between the two of us as if he’s looking at gods.

Which is kind of disturbing, not gonna lie.

And it looks bizarre with him kneeling there with tape on his mouth.

Anyway, I ignore the guy as I turn towards the totem and begin walking over to it. Then a bunch of System notifications appear the moment my hand touches it.

The System Tower has been cleared!

Point total will now be analyzed…

Analysis complete.

Now showing the Leaderboards.

10. Aeon, Successor to the Primordial of Time – 11,400,000 Points

The leaderboards everyone has been so worked up about.

It’s certainly… something.

For one, I’ve apparently topped both the all-time leaderboards, and the leaderboards for this specific run of the Tower. Which will no doubt get me a bunch of nice rewards.

But putting that aside for the moment, there are a lot of familiar names on these lists. Along with unfamiliar ones.

The name I’m most surprised about is the person ranked second on this specific tower run.

I’ve never heard of them before. And on top of that, they’re a Successor of Void.

“They were named a Successor by Nyx the day of the System Tower’s opening,” Chaos says, sounding rather unhappy with it. “And they are not a native of your planet. Neither is the sixth or eighth ranked users on your leaderboards.”

Right. I forgot there were other planets in this batch of planets that will be competing in this.

Lots of others.

As for the all-time leaderboards?

“Congratulations for taking the top spot,” Chaos says, sounding rather proud.

I’m just surprised there are others so close to me on the leaderboards.

Doesn’t that mean they also killed the final boss?

“Correct,” Chaos answers with a nod of his head as the tiger next to him rapidly nods his head. Then Chaos finally takes the tape off of said tiger’s mouth.

“A total of eighty-four users have defeated my clone over the years through various different methods,” Veldray says now that he’s able to talk again. “But don’t worry, because different methods of killing my clone give different amounts of points. There were also hidden point requirements that aren’t listed in the System Notifications so as to not spread them around. And you got quite a few of those.”

Interesting.

What’s even more interesting is the sheer number of names I recognize from the all-time leaderboards.

All three of Hel’s Successors were previously the top three ranked users for one. Which says something.

Then there’s the Tower of Chaos’ Tower Master that is currently managing things for me back on Val who is the fifth ranked user on the all-time leaderboards. The guy whose name I will never be able to pronounce.

That’s all for people I recognize though. But recognizing about half of them is surprising on its own.

“The sixth ranked user, Rellan the First, is the current Judge ruling over The Order,” Chaos explains for me. “The seventh ranked user, Kch’trl, is the Royal Guard serving the Queen of the Hive.”

The… Hive?

I feel like I remember hearing about them.

“They’re humanoid ants that infest and take over entire planets,” Chaos answers seemingly without much interest in the Hive itself. “As for the last three? Richard, the eighth ranked user, is the Tower Master of the Magic Towers, also known as the Magic Order. But he barely ever shows up so the submaster is generally the one doing all the work.”

Sounds like a fun job.

“The ninth and tenth ranked users don’t care about factions and tend to stay in seclusion to train themselves,” Chaos finishes his little introduction. “And I’m certain the former tenth ranked user is very pleased about you kicking her out of the top ten.”

I can’t help but notice that Chaos is failing to hold himself back from chuckling at that.

“If you were curious, the former tenth ranked user was Erebos’ most powerful Successor, and the only Successor that Erebos doesn’t sacrifice when it benefits him,” Chaos answers my unasked question. Only to add a part I didn’t really want to know about. “She is also Erebos’ lover.”

Oh.

I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear that and focus on the rewards calculation notification that are just now showing up in front of me.

Well, the Sinclair family was famous for being op even before the system stuff

AreVee

Ashley is called Chaos on the first leaderboard, but Sinclair on the second. It's also amusing but a bit strange how the whole SInclair family seems overpowered.
