SUPERMAN (2025) | EXTENDED WATCH

WHAT THE HEY DUDE?! It's finally time for my most anticipated movie of the year! For whatever flaws there may, I loved it. Corenswet IS Superman. Hoult IS Luthor. I love the dynamic and world they've set the stage for and can't wait to see SUPERGIRL next year!!! Krypto obvious MVP. I'm still grinning 😁

One of the creators of Superman was from Cleveland. The other was from Toronto. Put some respect on the Canadian side, good sir, or we just might be forced to write you a strongly -- but politely -- worded letter. Maybe. We might just hold it inside forever and pretend we're fine.

Loved seeing Cody's inner child enjoy this movie

That government guy at the end was talking out his ass. *All* of that happened because Lex Luthor, not a metahuman, decided to make his own rules.

I can understand where some of the criticism comes from, but I do not understand the massive hatred I’ve seen for the movie. Yeah, I loved Henry Cavil as Superman and I really liked Man of Steel, plus that suit he had was killer. However, this Superman was fine. I’m not a big fan of the suit, but I don’t hate it. David Corenswet did a good job, I think. The movie was campy, cheesy and considering that’s exactly how the classic comics were, I think they struck a good balance. I’m not a fan of turning Jor El into Zod, but I know that was done in the comics. It wasn’t very popular, but it was there. The movie was very “James Gunn”. It had a lot of that “Guardians” type humor in it. It was entertaining, hit the mark with the comedy a lot of the time and most of what has been ruining modern movies wasn’t present here. I guess some think the bad dictator was supposed to be Netanyahu and the conflict was Israel versus Hamas but I didn’t really see a lot of that in it. Sure, you have your typical gender and race swaps, but they didn’t bother me at all. Edi Gathegi did a great job as Mr. Terrific and Nathan Fillion was born to play Guy Gardner. His attitude as Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly fits right into Guy Garder perfectly. Isabela Merced was good but her role seemed like the least consequential. Nicholas Hoult made a great Lex Luthor, much better than Jesse Eisenberg. I love Jesse Eisenberg as an actor, just not as Lex. I was concerned they would overuse Krypto, but they didn’t. He was in the movie just enough, his scenes were mostly funny and he added to the film, he wasn’t just there as some gimmick. The way he acts makes a lot of sense once you find out he’s Kara’s dog. So overall the movie entertained me, didn’t preach to me, was funny, campy and cheesy in the right ways and I didn’t get bored watching it. That means it’s a win. It deserved to do better at the box office. I don’t think Gunn helped his ticket sales with the “Superman is an immigrant!” tweets in today’s climate, especially because he’s literally not…he’s a refugee and an actual extra terrestrial, not an immigrant from two countries over. There really was no need to stir that pot and it may have cost some ticket sales. That wasn’t reflected in the movie, not really, so I’m not sure why he felt the need to do that. James Gunn made a decent movie, they all can be proud of it and I’m looking forward to seeing Supergirl and seeing what they do with Kara. Having Jason Momoa is always a plus for me because I love the guys acting. I have since I saw him in Stsrgate Atlantis and then GoT. My score would be somewhere in the 75%-80% range, which isn’t bad whatsoever.
