MONSTERS: THE LYLE AND ERIK MENENDEZ STORY [2x1] | EXTENDED REACTION

Its been 2 year since Dahmer! We're back for a bit more conflicting of a story this time around. Bridgette and I are going to be learning this story as it goes this time as we don't know the background of this case. But it's clear the question this season is who is the real monster? If you haven't checked it out yet we highly suggest checking it out because episode 1 blew our expectations away!

Erik also 100% disassociates. Even during the trial there were moments when he was on the stand that he disassociated. Back then it wasn't really understood, so a lot of the time it was him having to ask for questions to be repeated and lead to a lot of people thinking he was kinda "dumb" for not understanding things. He also has auditory processing disorder, also with other learning disabilities, (none of which they don't talk about in the show) so he doesn't always understand what is being said correctly or use the correct words to say what he is thinking.

An interesting thing to me that was told about Erik during the trial was how often he cried. Even in high school if he did badly on a test, he would start crying in the middle of class. Which all the teachers said was very concerning because most teens, especially boys, would be mortified for their classmates to see them cry. Lyle was definitely portrayed in the show very differently than real life. He was known for being very stoic and had an even voice, just like his father. So it's kinda weird they are portraying him as kinda wild and intense.

I agree, it was very well-made from a production, directed, and acting standpoint. But full of incorrect information and mischaracterizations of people.

Ophelia

The performances are so good, they really did a great job with casting.

Yep I just binged the whole thing. It was extremely well produced, acted, directed, etc, but I wasn’t super happy with the accuracy and portrayals in some areas.

About to watch this but from what I know of the story, a lot of people lean towards the fact that it was a very abusive household and they did what they had to
