I like how Daemon put his Brother's πŸ‘‘ back on his head for him. I have never seen a blade cut so straight through a head before, and it was weird, because it was only the top part of his head. This was a great reaction. There were some good parts about the Dinner, like Rhaenyra and Alicent showing respect, but Alicent's Children find a way to ruin everything (her Sons anyway). They were so disrespectful to everyone, especially their dying Dad. I can see where Alicent thought they Viserys was talking about their Aegon, but Rhaenyra and Daemon also had an Aegon. Alicent should have known better than to think Viserys was going to change his mind after 20 years. I am so glad Viserys isn't suffering anymore from . Leprosy is supposed to have a long incubation period, and it can go a decade or even more undetected. It is so crazy to think that in book canon, Alicent married Viserys right before he turned 30. So, at 29, he already looked 50. I forgot to mention something about a previous Episode. Right after Rhaenyra had her third "Strong" Child, the Wet Nurses gave her cold packs to put on her breasts to help make her dry her milk up. I did that with my Pregnancies, and it was very painful for a couole of days. But, why would she be trying to dry her milk up in those times? They did not have Baby Formula back then, and Animal Milk is not nutritious at all...I don't know...I was just thinking about it. Yeah, now that Viserys is gone, Civil War is about to break out like crazy. Alicent's Aegon will make a πŸ’© Ruler. Once again, great reaction. I am moving on to the next one now. And, Aemond looks lije he would be Daemon's child, but of course he isn't.

You guys remember Visery telling Alicent about his dream about having a son who would become King in episode 3. I don't think its hard to believe that Alicent truly thinks Visery is telling her to help their son become King. Alicent like most women during this time is a very acquiescent women. She does what her father wants, and if she believes her husband now wants the same thing, she could easily be convinced to do it out of duty. I also think Alicent desperately wants to believe that Viserys choose Aegon to be king because Viserys was somewhat neglectful to his children with Alicent. Part of it is because how sick he was, and also because he didn't appear to be as connected to them. I think apart of Alicent thinking he wants Aegon to be King, is her wanting to believe that Viserys did love their children.

It just occurred to me that Aemond is Daemon with the D at the end instead of at the beginning LOL

I just want to thank you guys for doing full length watch alongs for this, I really enjoy your reactions to everything. This is my favorite episode of the season. I cry every time I watch the scene where Viserys shows up, and Daemon helps him up to the throne and crowns him. Great writing, great acting. Paddy should have won an Emmy for his performance!

I don’t follow any of the awards shows but I hope the actor who played Viserys won something, somewhere, for this performance. And same to his makeup artists.

I’m not sure if anyone has brought it up to you guys before, but Rhaenyra and Alicent loved each other when they were younger. Like, in a romantic way, not just besties way. Which makes everything they’ve done to each other that much more painful. They simply did not understand that of themselves and those close moments and looks they share with each other are a result of that love they once had. The producers and actors that play A and R have talked about it. Basically majorly repressed love, longing, and loss. So Alicent marrying her father … pain.

I always say Alicent just heard what she wanted to hear, but the death of viserys is always so sad and Paddy Considine, Viserys's actor had posted an instagram when the episode first aired and wrote a beautiful farewell to the character but he also shared the secret to Viserys character and in short " From the moment she dies, so does Viserys. It was a love story. As sick as he gets, he never, himself, demands any cure. He quietly accepts his suffering, never forgiving himself for putting his beloved wife through such torture in her final moments. Viserys was a gift. I am so honoured he found me. Now, no more" - Paddy Considine Though, gotta love the parallels of the first Viserys and his gold crown & mask in HOTD and the last Viserys, and his "gold crown" and face LOL

I call the moment when Daemon and Aemond stare at each other 'game meets game'. When the cousins marry, Driftmark will go to their son, who will have the Valeryon name from his father Luke and the Valeryon blood from his mother Rhaena. If blood was what Vaemond cared about, that fixes it and he knows it. He just saw an opportunity to grab Driftmark for himself. Helaena said 'beware the beast beneath the boards' in case you missed it. Viserys didn't want to be wheeled or carried into the throne room. He wanted to be as powerful visually as he could, given how physically weak he was. There was supposed to be a conversation between Viserys and Daemon that fixed their relationship. Then during rehearsal, the crown fell off and Matt Smith improved picking it up and helping Paddy to the throne. It was so good they added it to the scene and cut the conversation, since this would be all the brothers needed to reconcile. And props to the makeup and special affects dept for making Paddy look like such an old, sick man!! No more time jumps! You made it!

I can go both ways on the succession for Driftmark. Luke isn't blood but he was chosen by Laenor as a son and by Corlys, who is the lord and leader of house Velaryon, as a grandson. Both know he isn't blood, and they don't care. He has no experience, but he can learn a great deal and get help from Vaemond if he just honors the choice of his brother and lord. Add the marriage and there will still be Velaryon blood ruling Driftmark. As for the iron throne, technically the bloodline is still pure. The rightful heir is Rhaenyra Targaryen who is a trueborn child from the king and his chosen heir. So, when he dies it truly doesn't matter that he has other children. It will only matter after Rhaenyra dies. Her first 3 kids are named Velaryon but will have to change it to Targaryen when they ascend. So, they will have her blood and her name. Plus, she will have 3 full blood trueborn Targaryen kids with Daemon. Even if it's right or wrong the king willed it so anything anybody does to prevent it is treason and death. If Alicent really believes that Viserys said he wants Aegon to be king, she truly is an idiot. First off, the man is damn near dead. Second, he is constantly high on milk of the poppy and has a clouded mind. Anybody with common sense would know that the mumbling of that man would be 95% nonsense. Third, he said stuff like "do you remember" and "earlier" so if she didn't talk to him earlier the entire conversation is irrelevant and Alicent would know that. Forth, he has told the entire realm that Rhaenyra is heir, threatened to cut out tongues, etc. for 20 years. He never mentioned any of his other kids in connection to the throne. So, in my opinion any death and violence that comes after will be on Alicent and her team.
