GAME OF THRONES [3x9] | EXTENDED REACTION
Added 2023-07-27 23:37:48 +0000 UTC
I hope youโre all happy now. The Red Wedding.
This Episode shows just how evil human beings can be, because "The Red Wedding" was based on two events that happened in our actual history:
1) "The Black Dinner"
2) "The Massacre of
Glencoe in AD 1692"
Both of these events happened in Scotland.

I don't know if you remembered by this point, but all Sam ever wanted to be was a wizard. So when Gilly says you're like a wizard, it's like she validated him completely accidentally.

I've never understood why people like the "Lady Stoneheart" storyline so much. It was fairly pointless, IMO, for reasons I can't really describe without spoiling, of course. Trying to avoid spoilers makes it so hard to justify an unpopular opinion. lol

Absolutly, i've watched this show (excluding reactions) 19 times and there's so much I learn each time. (possibly not so much now after 19 times ๐) but interesting the 5 or 6th time I'd see/learn something new. There so much going on with this show that it's easy to miss things.
Also little finger's saying "Chaos is a ladder" during his conversation with Varys. Very important ๐

I'm a grown ass man and this episode makes me cry everytime ive watched it. Also the reason why Catelyn turns and looks horrified when the band starts playing that song after locking the doors, is the song thats being played is "The Rains of Castamere" which i believe is about a house(family) that is destroyed. Cersei references it in last episode when talking to Margery. It's one of those things you dont notice until you watch it a second time.

Also, here's my first minor gripe with this season. They didn't include the really cool scene in the Night Fort where Sam and Gilly pass through a magic gate shaped like a face. Its such a minor gripe, but... that was such a cool bit of world building.

The book red wedding hits even harder. Grey Wind, Robs wolf, can sense something is wrong as soon as they get to the twins and just starts attacking people. For that, Lord Walder makes a big fuss and convinces the Starks to lock him away. Robs final words in the book are " Grey Wind" so many people suggest Rob dies, then wargs into Grey Wind like Bran does with his wolf and then actually gets killed again as Grey Wind. In the books, the Starks are much more aware Walder Frey might pull something like this but Walder offers them Bread and Salt, guest gifts, in accordance with traditions of Guest Right, the Starks then get much more relaxed. Guest right says that if your hosts offer you bread and salt then there is peace and no harm will come to you under their roof. The Freys violate guest right and are absolutely despised by everyone in the 7 Kingdoms for it including Jamie and the Lannister soldiers who respected Rob Stark as a leader and warrior. #StannistheMannis

My sadistic ass is cackling watching y'all's reaction๐. I've seen this show so many times it doesn't even phase me anymore. You guys took it better than a lot of reactors I watch. A few straight up walked off and the camera cut. No words after the episode was done.

2023-07-28 01:10:48 +0000 UTC
For context for the second scene (and I know, I know... it doesn't matter so much now... though it kind of does) - they were offered bread and salt, which is a ceremonial offering of hospitality. Walder Frey invited them formally into his home, offered them protection and hospitality. Its a deeply religious display too - because its essentially swearing on the Seven that you'll do no harm to your guests.
And, you know. He ignores all that. So what he did was awful in multiple ways.

Ooof, brutal. Bridgettes cry outs and Codyโs shell shock. ๐what I noticed most though is how you both experience and react to the show together. Not even noticing how you grip each others hands ๐. It was my first time watching a reaction to this episode with that level of support. Youโve got each other and the rollercoaster ride this show gives is so worth it! I have favorite episodes of every season, but season 4 collectively is my favorite. Keep watching!

The song Cat heard playing above her was called the "Rains Of Castamere" The song was mentioned in the previous episode by Cersei. It was created after Tywin murdered a whole family. You hear the song played numerous times in the show. Tyrion whistles it early in season 2. Bronn and the soldiers sing it during the Blackwater episode. She knew something was wrong playing a Lannister song. That why she looked so nervous.

Mauro
2023-07-28 00:05:48 +0000 UTC
Poooor Bridget. I knew this would hurt her too much. It hurt us all!
However looking back now, I apologize but as much as I love the Starks (and I really do), they were trapped in the past and thinking and fighting like they did years ago. And as much as I hate the Lannisters (and I really really do), they are using modern warfare. The Starks are too honorable to play the game but everyone else is. Anyone who resists change will eventually lose. They were such good people that they couldn't even imagine how far their enemies would go. It ultimately doomed Ned, Robb and Catelyn. "I think you lost this war the day you married her."
This episode aired 10 years ago and I'm surprised that people are still surprised. I mean it's a great thing that the secret is kept, but even if people have never watched Game of Thrones, I would think they would've heard about the Red Wedding. But then we wouldn't have great reactions like this one. Thx for your impressive hard work editing these so quickly so your pain could be our pleasure. I AM happy now!
