2024-06-13 17:39:41 +0000 UTC@Melanie Vine: I personally noticed the quality of the show drop and checked out as early as season 7, for other people it was season 6 (although I thought season 6 was fine, but on rewatches I can see some of the issues now). It wasn't just suddenly season 8.

Everything before season 8 is IMO on this level. It's the greatest show ever made so it deserves an ending that fits with the rest of the show.

It would work so well as an animated series I think - then it'll avoid the whole "actors growing up faster then the characters" issue that's already noticeable with some characters (namely Brann - he went from a little boy to a teenager very quickly and its hard to hide it!). They can go as wild as they like with being book accurate too - and I would name some examples but I do not want to spoil at all, even if its things not in the show, it might tip you off, so I'll leave it at that.
