Some fun facts for some maybe... the girl playing Nancy is Heather Langenkamp who married an Effects guy and she does special effects for movies with him such as Cabin in the woods! and the teacher from insidious is Lin Shaye she is the sister of Robert Shaye who was the founder of New Line Cinema which is how A Nightmare On Elm Street got started! just thought you may enjoy :)

🤣 "He just became blood." Oh my god killed me. Not as hard as it killed Johnny Depp but you get me.

Another movie that would be fun to watch but still has a scary overtone is “The Frightners” with Michael J Fox. It also has Gary Buseys son in it, Jake, who played the absolute douche that kept calling Nancy “Nancy Drew” at the paper in season 3 of Stranger Things.

Love to watch you react to the first Poltergeist movie. The first horror movie I snuck downstairs and watched when I was 8. Scared the crap out of me. This was fantastic, the tape of the airport sounds always makes me laugh and I’ve seen this movie well over 10 times.

Rewatching this with you two just jogged my memory about just how much the Duffer brothers borrowed from this movie to build out the plot for Stranger Things. Glenn is obviously Steve - a well-meaning preppy himbo who gets volcano'ed before he has a chance to redeem himself (along with a couple other characters from a John Hughes movie mixed in there for fun). And Rod's story arc is basically a silly putty copy for Eddie's story arc from season 4 - a misunderstood weirdo who seems threatening but is the unwilling witness to a horrendous crime he winds up being blamed for. They also used a real true crime case (the West Memphis Three). Also, Nancy as ... well, Nancy. lol
Another fun factoid that's actually about F13th, though: Robert Englund is a classically trained actor who studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts! Wes kind of makes a little hat-tip to it during Nancy's nightmare about Tina, where the kid at the front of the class is reciting Shakespeare: "were it not that I have bad dreams," which is from Hamlet. :)

When I was younger, I remember my brothers leaving these movies laying around the basement floor...I couldn't sleep, so I was curious about it...it gave me nightmares FOR YEARS. I can watch the remakes, but Robert Englund scarred me for life.

Whoooo! My favorite horror franchise. In my opinion, no one tops Robert Englund. Love him.
