That speech by Dr Owens at the end gives me chills every time I see it. When El is mad at Mike not saying I love you, and Mike says “I say it” with a serious look, he does, just in other ways. Season 1 he never gave up hope she’d come back, season 2 363 days they were apart, season 4 the fact that he went and picked her flowers in Hawkins, in her two favorite colors, then worrying that he maybe did too much of one color because he wanted them perfect for her…..those are all ways of saying “I love you”. Plus, they’re kids, and love is a HEAVY word.
