Dr. Who Reaction Series 6- Closing Time

That was a funny one....Except the ending.........

Dr. Who Reaction Series 6- Closing Time

Comments

Sorry for the late reply, I was sick this week, kinda still am. I hope you´re ok with a shorter reply for that reason. Thank you for all your thoughts about the episode. :) Please be careful with telling me about re-occuring stuff though. I´ve only seen Craig´s home twice now, but reoccuring means will see him again in future episodes as well. Which I do not really want to know. Please be more careful how you phrase certain things, since there is no moderator on Patreon :)

"They gave me a badge with my name on it in case I forget who I am. Very thoughtful, as that does happen.", The Doctor, "Closing Time" I like the K9 reference when the Doctor mentions that a (toy) robot dog wasn't as much fun as he remembered. I also like the way all of the shop employees like and trust the Doctor - for all his apparently quirky personality he does get on with people. There's a re-occurance of a running Doctor Who gag, although you've now only seen your second occurance of it - the Doctor comments that he doesn't like the redecoration of Craig's home. We had previously heard that from the Peter Doctor (the fifth Doctor) in "Time Crash". Lynda Baron who plays Val, the saleswoman who misunderstands the Doctor's and Craig's relationship, had been in a Classic Who episode in the 1980s but also had an off-screen role in one of the early 1960s black-and-white stories. "And then there's that silver rat thing.", Val, "Closing Time"

I agree, the Cybermen didn´t have a big role in this one. They were just there. Very interchangable with any other villain to be honest. But the mix of everything made me like the episode, even if the overall storyline wasn´t the best of the best :)

Wow you really didn´t like it then 129/140 is not good at all. But thanks for sharing your opinion, I don´t know what it is about this show but every episode seems to have people who are divided in their opinion. That´s very unusual. At least for the shows I know. :)

Nicologik

Yeah I thought it might be, but than it wasn´t. :)

I agree with your opinion about the episode, although I think I might have enjoyed it a little more than you did. Craig is a great character, I hope this wont be the last we see of him. :) To be honest I haven´t really noticed the children you´re talking about. I was too distracted by thinking about the doctors possible death. :D But I´m going to pay attention to it while editing the episode. :) Yeah I do remember, it was the Nixon episode if I remember the right president :D :D

Although it's pleasant to have a sequel to 'The Lodger', this isn't as much fun. The Cybermen are basically wasted, and everything gets rushed in order to fit in a Moffat ending, in order to remind us that 'big things are coming'. I like the Cybermat, though. This was a nice callback to a couple of Classic stories, where the cute/evil Cybermats played a substantial role.

Not really keen on this one. It's kind of ok. 3/5 but I have it ranked at 129/140. Can't really think of much more to say about it but looking forward to the finale.

Jade Ellis

this wasn't part of the finale. this season doesn't have a two parter finale.

An enjoyable episode but not a great one in my opinion. It's funny with a few scares, some foreboding and a lovely cameo from Amy and Rory. I love the weary look on Rory's face as he waits for the autograph to be signed. I really like Craig though in both of his stories. In fact I almost always like James Corden as an actor although not so keen on him as a comedian or a talk show host. Love the ending including the children who don't know what to make of the cowboy and his police box and the creepy lullaby at the very end. I'm not sure if you had already remembered this but when we saw the child in the space suit later in the opening story of this series it was really earlier in time as our heroes had gone back to 1969 when River/Melody was a lot younger.
