Both handkerchief and tissue are used today. They are different. A handkerchief is made of cotton and washable. A tissue is made of paper and disposable, like the packets you have in the video. :)

I think (from memory, not rechecking) that the older Doctor compares diaries with River and they have both already met "Jim the Fish". But when n she does the same with "our Doctor", she still has (of course) but he hasn't yet.

Thank you for the prequel sequence. What a great way to make people curious about the series. It was really intriguing. :)
I didn´t really think about the invisible TARDIS to be honest. Because the story really took me away from that. :D But you´re right. Why wouldn´t they do this all the time. Would be so much safer :D
Wow, I didn´t know how that device was called. Thank you for letting me know :)
Hmmm that River-doctor timeline stuff seems to be more complicated than I thought. If not even fans who do know every episode, do know how it really works. But it takes the pressure from me, having to understand that issue completely right now :D :D

Oh ok, I understand. Thank you so much for letting me know. So we already saw him again. That makes sense :) :)

Thank you so much for your comment Stephen. I really appreciate you helping me out a little. Because I don´t want to look like a fool in my next video :D And also I want to get things right before going into the next episode, so that I can really understand what´s going on. So your comment is really much appreciated :)
OHHHHH I just rewatched the picknick scene, and one of the first sentences of the doctor is "I´m 1103" Damnit, I didn´t pick up on this. THANK YOU so much for clarifying. To tell you the truth, my brain started hurting as soon as I knew that fact. Because I had the story all figured out in my mind, and now I´m trying to change it, and my brain doesn´t want to accept the new facts :D :D So the beach doctor is the older version, and the one that I felt was so strange, was actually our doctor. Wow that is just crazy .... So, before I do make another mistake. Which doctor sits in the restaurant at the very start, comparing the diaries with River?
Also after having rewatched the picknick scene, I realized that you´re right. Amy was the only one looking at the Alien, that´s why she saw it. Thank you again :)
Arggggg, I wanted to mention that Library episode. Because I thought about that while watching. But I forgot during the review. Damnit. I hope I´m going to remeber, talking about that in my preview to the next episode.
Also thank you for beeing so cautious not to spoil anything :)

"I just popped out to get my special straw.", The Doctor, "The Impossible Astronaut"
BTW: There was a short prequel (webcast) scene for this episode.

It was fun seeing the Doctor appear in the Laurel & Hardy film.
Concerning the invisible TARDIS - I don't know what it adds to the story at all. It's briefly amusing, but doesn't it just scream "well, why don't they just land like that all the time?". However, I can't complain too much - it was used in a Classic Who story as well - once.
My father used to have a UHER reel-to-reel tape recorder (made in Germany) like the one shown being used by Nixon in the White House scene. It's probably not an identical model though. I remember recording some things off the radio with it.
There's a nice reference to "Star Trek" in the 1969 bathroom scene. In that time frame, it would have been just at the end of the broadcast run of the original Star Trek episodes.
I'm not sure what the rest of Doctor Who fandom think, but my understanding of the River and the Doctor timelines going in opposite directions is that it is not a "strictly" every-time-they-meet it's in the opposite order but an "often" in the opposite order. If it were "strictly" opposite, then there shouldn't be any need for the diary-sync procedure they do - what events would they ever have experienced in common? River's concern is real though - if she does eventually cross paths with the Doctor and he doesn't know her - that's probably a significant meeting.
"I'm being extremely clever up here and there's no one to stand around looking impressed. What's the point in having you all?", The Doctor, "The Impossible Astronaut"

First of all, I thought that the kid was a little boy, so thank you for telling me that it´s actually a girl. :D And second, to be honest, I immidiately thought that the reason for Amy was, to prevent what she knew was going to happen in the future. And her rage for what happened to the doctor blinded her for actually thinking about the consequences of her shooting. For me it made total sense. But I don´t know the second part yet, so maybe I´m wrong :D

Oh did we not mention series six starts with a two parter, whoops, spoilers lol.
The old man on the beech is Canton, who we then meet as a young man (Mark Shepard) As for everything else, Stephen explains it all below so no need for me to do the same. Ranking and ratings next episode but yeah a really good opener, the first time the series has started with a two part story. And yeah kind of know how you feel, can't wait for your reactions to this series, so yeah its hard waiting for the next one.

You've made me rewatch it, and I think you might be right. Ironically I think that might've been clearer without the slow-mo!

I don't think in the moment Amy realises that the spaceman is the little girl. she's reaching behind for the gun when the helmet is lifted up. She then spins round and shoots.

Thanks. It was partly about that and partly about who they are playing. i.e. Mark Sheppard plays the young agent, Canton Delaware who joins the Tardis crew. And his real life dad, William Morgan Sheppard, plays the older version of the same character; i.e. the guy on the beach who brings the gasoline. Which is why he says "you will see me again but I won't see you".

If the thing you're asking about is to do with the two actors, I don't see any reason not to mention it. :-)

Some things you may not have spotted but not spoilers, honestly, just examples of how complicated this story is.
This isn't a younger version of The Doctor! It's the Doctor we see on the beach who is 200 years older than the one we have been watching up to now. The one who Amy, River and Rory meet after he has been shot is only a bit older than last time he saw them in series 5.
Amy actually says to him on the beach that he is 200 years older than she remembers. So it is "our" Doctor from series five who gets invitation number one and later says that he doesn't trust River.
There is a fact about the man on the beach with the gasoline which I think you may spot when you are editing. It's not a spoiler I think but I will put it on hold just in case. If other Patreons are reading this, let me know if you think it is ok to tell Nicole.
Amy is the only one who looked directly at the alien on the beach. She doesn't have any special powers to see them!
River tells Rory that one day she will look into the Doctor's eyes "and he won't have the faintest idea who I am. And I think it is going to kill me." We have already seen this. And it did. In the library. Watching River saying those words just kills me every time I watch this episode.
I'm glad you chose this show too.

One thing that always puzzled me about this episode was why Amy shoots the young girl when she's in obvious distress. Rewatching it alongside your video made me realise there's a bit of dialogue between Amy and River that sort of explains it; having seen the "astronaut" kill the Doctor in his personal future, she's trying to save him from being killed now. But it still doesn't really sit right with me. Perhaps when we watch the next episode it will make more sense to me.
