I wonder if we're going to find out that Sandy's being subjected to some industy "advancement" methods as per her mother, whom we have previously seen to be a rather cold stage mom. I feel like this going to be something much darker than "oh noes I found a fam~ous boyfriend"

This is most definitely a break up coming up. She realizes that the relationship is one way, and is dysfunctional. Only a really cruel uncaring person would continue such a dynamic. Sandy is kind of a decent person to finally break it off if that is what happens next.
