Marble Rally Season 7!! The ea

Oh yes, it's time to discuss about THE most anticipated series. It's not the most popular, nor the most successful series from our channel, but does the Marble Rally get more hype than anything else? Don't think so...

Alright let's get down to brass tacks.

Marble Rally Season 7 will be our next production, which will be after ML23. The exact upload dates are not yet known because he haven't filmed that yet. But we will share all info we have about it, and before we get on the production we will see if some of the ideas/intentions below get poor feedback we will rethink of them.

First off, no relegation and no auto-qualification from the Showdown! Yes, that's right, there will be no relegation this year. Also as you might remember, the top 4 from SD should automatically go to the main league? That was a graphical error. The intention was to keep bottom 4 to the SD and keep the top 4 from the main league to the main league. Even though the latter is still in effect, with Slimer, Ducktape, Superball and Ghost Plasma get auto-qualified, Blue Moon, Blazing Fireball, Big Pearl and MMM will try to qualify.

Going further, we aim to make the Sand Rally less with more. The plan is to have 12 races for the main league in 6 videos. Two races per video is a new feature that we hope people will like for the following reasons:

1. First the retention could be higher. In a 5-minute video with 3 minutes of action you just don't get the amount of enjoyment you would like to.

2. Second, to make financial sense for JMR as the 5-minute videos just don't give revenue. It's kind of bad to mention this, but let's face it. YouTube doesn't show ads and with no ads, the revenue is bad and drags the chewing production machine down.

3. It will be a better viewing experience for y'all! Minos Marble Orchestra did this while playing the JMR game, and it kinda worked for his channel, with retention being good. You get hungry for more content when you see 1 race. So the solution might be 2 races!

Now about the qualifiers

The qualifiers will be split in 4 groups of 7 marble rally competitors each. There will be 2 races for each group. The top 4, and yes, top 4 will qualify to the main league either using the best time form the two races, or an aggregate between the two, this is something we will discuss both with you on patreon and on the marblebase on discord. There are pros n cons in both scenarios.

Here are the groups!

Group A: Reflektor, Cool Moody, Blizzard Blaster, Blue Moon, Summer Sky, Blazing Fireball & Big Pearl

Group A is going to be fire! With such strong competitors, we are getting ourselves a treat! Cool Moody didn't do as good as in other seasons, while Blue Moon and Big Pearl would like to respond on their critics following S6.

Group B: Amethyst, Phoenix, Deep Ocean, Marbly McMarbleface, Black Knight, Crazy Cat's Eye & White Widow

Amethyst, the debutant winner, MMM the backmarker and the fan favourite, Deep Ocean. Classic protagonists also in the mix, Phoenix looks strong as well as Black Knight after their fall-training. Can anyone spoil their party?

Group C: Nemo, Dragon's Egg, Wisp of Darkness, Comet, Silver Bolt, Grasshopper & Pollo Loco

The crazy chicken missed on a three-way tie in S6 as Nemo lost P2 in the SD last year after another tie.  Can they recover from their bad lack? Where will Comet land after the Qualifiers? Silver Bolt was the highest placed marble of this group, but the training was not quite good for them. Unless they are "sandbagging" (pun intended).

Group D:  Lollipop, El Capitan, Quicksilver, Green Turtle, Red Number 3, Cobra & H2 Blue

Quite strong the marble competitors in this group are. The selection was random though, The only thing we ensured was a balance between Main League and Showdown marbles. Red Number 3 has a lot to prove after their surgery, while Lollipop would like to keep the upward path from Season 6. Can though Dragon's Egg and Quicksilver find common ground after their clash in the championship last year?

The top 4 from S6 might get a friendly round for all those who support them, show their performance and faces. But the main focus will be the 4 groups! Top 4 goes to the Main League which will have 20 competitors again while the Showdown will have 12 competitors.

The Showdown is not decided yet on how many races there will be, but a fair guesstimate will be 6 races across either 1 or 3 videos. This can be decided in due time. The most important thing to have in mind. How should handle the qualifiers? We ask pretty early as we haven't filmed the races yet and don't know the results. But the options are:
A. Keep the best time from the 2 runs. Ties are broken by comparing both times, then position countback
B. Use an aggregate from the two times. In case of a DNF  it will be regarded as a time +10 seconds slower from the slowest time set in each group.
C. Keep best position from the two races.

Which one is best? If none comment your ideas below!

P.S. Wherever we refer to as "the plan is...", it's our intention, depending on your comments we will decide whether this will be done or not! :)

Now I will listen on 50% speed!!

Frost

If it’s not too late for idea pitches- the action in SMR is so fast i find myself rewatching a lot of races on YT at 75% speed to catch the passes and collisions (50% speed sometimes except it makes Greg sound very intoxicated). Would it be possible to slow down the playback speed to extend the video length? And give GW more time to call out passes and race action. 2cents. Also option B.

I think B is best
