POV - You're the camera operator

Hello folks! We would like to continue our streak with sharing images from the set! A bit retrospective today we show the camera angles from the Misty Mountain GP!


This is the sneaky mini cam we hold inside the JMR lego tower, and will show you the action from the starting grid! Marble Greg was pleased to operate the camera setup as he went a short promenade from his quarters at the commentary box.


Last year's camera angles were a bit far away from the action. This was done to show you the set in all its glory. And even though we achieved that, we missed the element of having close up action. This year we fixed this by getting clever camera angles that elevate the vieweing experience while you still feel you are at Marblearth!


Like in Season 3, this year the first section of the Misty Mountain track has a more race-friendly layout with a lot of overtaking opportunities, especially right before the drop. Also for those who are into cinematography, some of the camera settings are random for the purposes of finding the right spot and then set them up properly. 😅


And what about the helices?? Are they in this year? Nope! Even though we initially felt the addition of those 'gimmicks' would shuffle the order, it made Marbula One more like Mario Kart instead of Formula One. But these features are now gone! Poof; like a memory from the past. The only feature that remains (aside from the kerbs) is the drop. A very welcome elevation change which makes the action get really spicy towards the long back stretch.


And oh boy, my favourite angle of them all, the drop and the long straight in all their glory! The marbles will rush towards the 3rd sector battling relentlessly for the win! A very fast section right before the slowest one.
