WALK THE LINE (2005) MOVIE WATCH PARTY

Comments

Yes, John Carter Cash (one of the executive producers) is one of his kids. Johnny enlisted into the Air Force, I don't think he was drafted. The actor who portrayed 'Jerry Lee Lewis' is Waylon Payne; he wasn't in the movie "Into the Woods". You're probably thinking of the actor Chris Pine (Cinderella's Prince or "Prince Charming) or Billy Magnussen (Rapunzel's Prince), but neither of them were in this movie. The song "Ring of Fire" was co-written by June Carter and songwriter/producer Merle Kilgore. June was 73 when she passed away, and when Johnny passed a few months after her he was 71. The actor who played 'Elvis Presley', is Tyler Hilton.

Forgot Ginnifer Goodwin {Snow White}was in this movie

I'm always struck by the compassion of the carters. June for trying to help him get clean. Her parents for not just being like get the heck away from him, but helping her and him

Meghan

My dad used to play his music and I hated his voice then but....

Meghan

Oh shit. I forgot how rough this movie gets.

Even though I have never been the biggest fan of Country music this is actually one of my of my favorite biographical films (I personally have always love tv shows, movies, and documentaries/docuseries based on real people and events). Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter did great in their respective roles. Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for a bunch of notable acting awards for his role in Walk The Line but the notable acting award he won was a Golden Globe (Joaquin Phoenix did eventually win an Oscar but it was for his role as the Joker in the movie Joker). Reese Witherspoon was also nominated for many notable acting awards and some of the notable acting awards she won for Walk The Line was an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for her role.

Morgan

The instrument that June is playing is an autoharp. My grandmother had one and she would try to play along with Johnny and June on the record player. She never got very good but boy did she try. 😂 Reese won a well deserved Oscar for her portrayal as June Carter Cash.

Annie Willow

what a beautiful surprise i love this movie

YASSS!!! 🥳 Audrey, Thank YOU! 🫶🏼 I've been DYIN’ to watch your reaction to this movie from the time you mentioned you were gonna react to it a while back. My Gramma (she taught me piano and the fundamentals of singing) and her group of friends (there were about 6 of them who were constantly together when I was growing up) always fawned over me singing and putting on little “productions” for them; they loved that I wasn't shy and was always quite the little performer! I can remember before Reese ever “made it big,” around the time of the 1st Legally Blonde movie, they happened to see her on a magazine cover and all decided that I favored her a good deal. As I got older, I started watching her movies and interviews and I actually do, in fact, favor her; but what I ended up enjoying was just how in sync our personalities are! Our speaking voices are similar as well; we have the same pitch and tone, plus that Southern accent. Hers from TN, mine from Bama. So, yeah, if you mix her with some Kelly Clarkson you’ll get ME! 😂 Also, Cash was one of the many “classic” country artists I was introduced to as a child (side tangent: my Gramma actually went to High School with Bette Midler back in Hawaii. She had some stories for us…lemme tell ya! 🤭) Sooo…YEAH! I'm so fuckin’ excited right now! 🙌🏼 I'm about to kick back and watch this movie I haven't seen in at least ten years with you…Yay!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I remember loving it back then, and hopefully you will too! 😊 On the last Live when you were showing us the tentative schedule and it was slated for launch in February, (I think that's right)…I was like, “No! Move it up, please!” So, this is a much needed GIGANTIC “Merry Christmas!” to ME! 🎁 So, again, Thank you! With that being said, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you and Danny and my wish for y'all would be that you take some time for yourselves, be blessed, relax a bit, and enjoy a delightful break together! ❤️ Thank you both (and your amazing team) so much for all the hard work you guys put into making this an incredible space for all of us. It is very much appreciated!
