2023-12-11 12:13:38 +0000 UTCAhh thank you Larka for requesting this! I was waiting for more Starkid! Ok, some thoughts: 1) I love that you’re showing Dylan (the dad) some love! He’s incredible and if you like him you should definitely watch Twisted, he’s amazing in that! 2) Starkid also released a mini series on YouTube called Nightmare Time that gives a lot of context to these characters and Nerdy Prudes Must Die. Episodes that explicitly link to it are Watcher World, Time Bastard, Honey Queen, Abstinence Camp (where we meet the stars of Nerdy Prudes) and Yellowjacket All but Abstinence Camp are more just for background info and a cool payoff at the end, but Abstinence Camp introduces us to Steph and Pete from the musical 3) I reckon these are some of Lauren’s (Linda) songs that don’t stick out to me as much, but she does have an amazing voice, any of her other shows will show that, but yeah she was sick 4) Joey (the bad dude in all denim) has grown so much since the start of Starkid with his singing, I saw him perform this year and he was amazing, but his characters are all my favourites (also he just got married to Lauren)

2023-12-11 05:17:52 +0000 UTCThey can’t confirm it but I know they believe they may have had COVID before it was really announced in the states so it was before quarantine - but because of the timing of the musical as well I don’t think it would have been strange if it had been a flu But yeah I can imagine that some of them probably had to dial it back a little as well because of their being sick (I can also imagine Joey was probably sick at some point, especially if Lauren was) But the fact that this is what they sound like when they were as sick as I remember seeing? They’re incredible!

I was lucky enough to see this live, and the cast had to announce they wouldn't be meeting people after the show (they typically do) because of all the gross sickness going around. It's hard to tell because they were all soooo good. I don't think I've ever laughed harder watching a production, some of those jokes absolutely killed me!!

2023-12-10 16:45:27 +0000 UTCLots of the cast were sick during this run (Lauren who plays Linda and Angela who plays Lex are two I know of) and they even had to cancel one of the shows. The cast album is amazing and you can hear how much better the songs are when all the performers are well.

I don't know if you saw where I requested Nerdy Prudes Must Die as well, but I did request that one as well a few weeks after Black Friday! It is the last one they made at the moment, and it is quite the musical! It has Mariah Rose Faith Casillas back from The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, and she plays a main character. The vocals are amazing, and I love the storyline as well! Also, I am very surprised that you missed Charlotte and Ted from The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals. But I will admit that it took me a few watches to realize that was them! I am so excited for your reaction to Nerdy Prudes Must Die! They really stepped it up with that one for sure!! I really love most of the musical numbers from Nerdy Prudes Must Die!!
