GLEE SO6E06 WATCH PARTY

Comments

Just so you know, the title of this post makes it hard to find episode 6 of season 6. It should be S06e06 with a zero not an O :)

Romy

I just LOVE this episode, it’s one of my favorites of the final season, mostly because I love Burt Bacharach’s music, but also just because the cast really upped their game. It will never not amaze me that Lea can go from crying to singing and then cry while singing and still sound fantastic. I used to think it was just because everything on Glee was prerecorded so it didn’t really have any effect on the way she sounded, but when we saw Funny Girl she did the same thing, cried buckets during the finale but kept belting like it was no problem. On a podcast I listened to someone said “she just sucked the tears back into her tear ducts and kept singing.” And yeah, it was kinda like that. The woman’s voice is unreal. I say this over and over whenever I remember seeing her in NY, but she even made my husband cry. She sounds even better now, and WAAAAY better live than in Glee, I’ll die on that hill. Promises, Promises was a great solo for her. Alfie is my favorite Santana solo, and when Naya died I listened to it on repeat. It’s so underrated, but I’m glad you listened in context. Now that you have I hope we can get just a solo reaction. I’m so sad we never got to see Naya become a huge solo artist because I really think she could sing anything. Next episode is a fun one! Can’t believe we’re almost done! Thanks for the reaction! And I hope you feel better soon!

Hey Audrey idk if you would be interested but since you’ve talked about rewatching the series maybe it would be fun to simultaneously listen to Jenna and Kevin’s podcast. They do two episodes a week. One recapping an episode and one with a special guest. Sometimes they are former cast mates/guest stars, or writers, directors, sound engineers, even casting directors. I think it would add an extra layer of experience cause although it’s labeled a recap they talk more about their experience filming the specific episode and they tell fun stories and behind the scenes secrets. It’s really great.

The person you thought was Sam singing in that last song, it was Mr. Schue, Matthew Morrison himself singing that part. I guess its been a while since you've heard him sing.

Michaela Evans

I don't even like Rachel but Sam trying to date her but chasing Mercedes around now that she came back feels disrespectful to Rachel, like, that means he doesn't even like her that much, Yes, a little realistic but not romantic at all. Sam and Mercedes weren't even dating at this point so why to bring it back? As you said, perhaps they needed closure, well, the audience needed closure XD but I honestly had totally forgotten abiut them, now, this thing you write reminded me that when they ended season 3, and Mercedes moved to LA, he just started chasing Brittany and his status with Mercedes wasn't even addressed, or did it?

Capri Zonica

Oh, Brittana makes Glee so much better. And to think they were just filler characters in the begining but at tis point it's them who make the show feel grounded. I think this is the best episode from the show, (or second best?) because even when I'm not interested in anybody anymore, I didn't fast forward the scenes as I do when Britanna isn't onscreen. Even when I think Burt Bacharach is not someone Gleeks would know of, all the songs were cute. What the world need now is one of the best sung group songs ever and everybody is at the top of their game when it comes to vocals. I think Anrtie and Mr Schue stood out in that song. And of course Alfie, which I hope you can analyze soon in it's full longer version because they cut the best part of it. I only wish Brittana had sung "The look of love" because they barely haven't had a duet since S4 wanna dance with somebody. And boy, did they take their time to bring abuela back, but thst makes the storyline more powerful.

Capri Zonica

Ah I’ve just seen from another comment, the reason we didn’t vote for Alfie was because it is more impactful when you see it in context and we didn’t want to risk any spoilers :)

I love this episode so much, I know I’m going to forget some of the stuff I want to say. The songs in this episode are amazing, I think I (and other people) have suggested Alfie to you in the past on YouTube but you had already reacted to a lot of Naya, and it wasn’t being voted for or selected (I’m not sure who/where the songs were selected). I love it so much, it’s one of my favourite Naya solos. This episode hits a little close to home, there are several things about me my family wouldn’t accept, the main one being I am highly suspected autistic (as in, suggested by professionals, and I’ve had referrals 🙈) but my parents wouldn’t allow that to go further because they don’t want it to be true. There are members of my family who wouldn’t accept the fact that I’m bi, I literally haven’t told a single person in my life for fear that my family will find out. This episode hurts my heart a little because I know how it feels to be Santana and want to live as your true self but knowing the outcome it will bring. I think with Rachel she just doesn’t like to fail so when she did, she lost all confidence, and she just needed time to rebuild that confidence and get back out there. I so badly hope that people vote to rewatch at least (the first season I think you said?) because I love rewatching stuff and I just want to see your reaction to things knowing what happens later. I’m also just not ready for glee to end, it’s been going on for how long now? I don’t even know but it is a key event of my week 😂. However I do know a lot of people hate rewatching things so I totally understand if they don’t want it.

Sophie R

That “tell me again” melts me into a gooey puddle of mush every time.

Annie Willow

Idk I don’t think Sam is actually still inlove w mercades as much as maybe he thinks he is. I think he more just didn’t have closure and felt guilty. Of corse his feelings are gunna be stronger for mercades since they were already in love and he really didn’t get closure after the breakup. So idk I think this is a very normal situation (minus them all being like best friends lol). I don’t think Rachel is really a rebound since it’s been months. I think it’s more just casual and then trying to discover dating again after lost love. Also the word rebound makes me think of using someone for sex to get over someone else and I really don’t think Sam would ever do that. He cares about Rachel but I think he wants to be very careful which I respect.

Liv Heskett

I love this episode. I think Sam is just in a place where he is used to chasing after Mercedes out of habit. I love how much Brittany we get in this episode. With their relationship, the focus has always been on Santana and Santana's struggle so when we do get those few glimpses of Brittany's take on their relationship, it's magic. And that "tell me again" gets me every darn time.

Haughtbreaker Nic

I had no idea we are at this episode already😭 Santanas song is one of my favorite covers of hers, and sadly, it was also her last solo on the show, so this song hits even harder.💔 But it's soo good and I'm so happy that we gleeks decided not to request this and let you watch that moment in this episode🥹 The whole Santana/Brittany storyline was so good this episode. Back when glee first aired, and season 3 came around, I was confused about my sexuality, too, and Santana helped me A LOT during those times and thanks to her, I even had the courage to come out to my mum. (I did even use her monologue to her abuela, "i like boys the way i'm supposed to feel about girls") And just like Santana, I had someone I very much loved reacting the way her abuela did and not supporting me anymore and then, seeing this episode for the first time, I cried so hard cause I remembered how I felt... I still shed some tears watching your reaction lol. 🥲 but yea, a little fun fact about "Arthur's Theme" (the song that the boys sang to Rachel): In Season 2, episode 2 I think, they were talking about this song and Finn replied with: "How can you get caught between the moon and New York City? They're like a hundred miles apart."😂 Apparently Will was supposed to sing the song back then but they cut it (thankfully cause I like the S6 version so much)

Patrick Rivera

I love the Brittana content in this episode. I just wish we got more of Klaine as well. I love how Brittany just Santana'd abuela! It's her loss. I loved the songs but especially Wishin' and Hopin', Alfie (most underrated Santana solo) and Promises, Promises. I do wonder though if going to that audition was a good idea, because what if she gets it? Is she gonna leave Kurt and the Glee kids after she literally promised Kitty that she wouldn't like 2 episodes ago? And I'm still not feeling Rachel and Sam. He's clearly still in love with Mercedes. I hate how the writers ruined their relationship.

Heida

We have now reached the point where I know what happens because of the fandom, but the only bits of the rest of the show I've seen are the songs. I love season 6 songs and this episode not only had my favorite Sam solo, it also had Arthur's Theme which is a top 15 song for me, and also Promises, Promises which is a top 5 Rachel song for me, Alfie, which is my third favorite Santana solo, and then What the World Needs Now which is just one of my favorite group songs. And it's really nice seeing everything in context because I get to understand everything, which is nice.

Sebastian Sawyer

Next episode has one of my all time favorite Glee cover!!! Can't wait for you to see it. 😁😁😁

Sabrina Louis

This Naya solo always gets swept under the rug but this will always be in my top two. She killed it and it always makes me emotional

Saraah

Rachel was always going to go back to NY. It makes me glad that the og ending didn’t happen. Ryan Murphy envisioned how the show ends while they were filming the pilot if you can believe it. Finn would be teaching at McKinley, Rachel walks in after she’s made it on Broadway and says I’m home. It was mentioned in the Quarterback. Her ending up in Lima at the end made no sense. But yeah, I like this episode. Not as much as the next 2 but it’s still solid. S6 is definitely my favorite Brittana season, and maybe even Brittney season as well. And the Abuala storyline is one of the ones that was very well done. Also side thought: Kurt not singing in Arthur’s Theme made no sense. The message about going back to NY would make the most sense coming from him but he’s literally the only one to not get featured.😑

Selma Jabr

Ken Jeong was also one of the panelists on the Masked Singer when Amber Riley was on it. Also, you only have 7 episodes of Glee left.

Wayne Joy

Also give me all the fluffy Brittana scenes. 🥰 The have both been through so much it’s time for them to just be happy and in love together. and Brittany’s parents are just perfect. Top tier casting.

Annie Willow

We all collectively agreed not to have you react to “Alfie” until after this episode so that you could watch it in context and the conversation after so you would get the full impact. It’s so much more meaningful having watched Santana and Brittany’s journey up to this point than just watching her performance out of context. Now, I would LOVE for you to go back and talk about Naya’s vocals for “Alfie” as well as Heather’s for “Wishin’ and Hopin’” now that you won’t have spoilers.

Annie Willow

As Audrey said, he just posted the first episode today. So, hopefully if it gets a good response he will continue it 😁

Jennifer Lawrence

In that last song (What the World Needs Now) when you didn't recognise the voices it was Mr Schue singing first, then Sam and then Blaine did the high note with Rachel.

Gigi

First episode of glee was posted in his Patreon one hour ago! 7 Deadly Bananas!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Ok you HAVE to get Danny to do glee cause all my glee watch parties im watching are ending. I’d totally subscribe to his Patreon if he did glee

Liv Heskett

I think it's JigSue :D

Erin

One of my favorite episodes of Season 6. The Brittany and Santana focused episodes this season are my favorite episodes this season. Love the music this episode. Naya/Santana's cover of "Alfie" is such an underrated solo but one of my favorite solos from the entire show.

Morgan

Before I even watch I just gotta say I think the music in this episode is top tier. I love Burt Bacharach so much and I love that they decided to dedicate an episode to him. I also think Rachel and Santana both give some of their best performances in this episode. Alfie and promises, promises are soo underrated yet amazing. (Btw I’m sure you caught on but all of the songs were written by him)
