yeeeee! I love that you're able to not only understand what I'm saying but it's said simple enough that you could repeat it to your friend. **my work is done here**

So I saw the Eras tour movie with my swifty cousin And was explaining some of what she's doing. Different including the leaning back or rather not leaning back. She was like oh my God, you are totally right. She's not doing that this tour.

Can't speak for Evermore but YES Folklore is way less strenuous vocally

Definitely not her best vocal performance but I still love it. Btw what concert did you go to?

After having gone on a vocal coaching journey myself to learn how to belt and belt high, I completely recognize the same journey with Taylor! We know she started getting training after the fearless tour when she got a lot of criticism for her vocals and while they’re actually very good on the Speak Now tour, I doubt she had much stamina and she didn’t have a lot of movement/dance. Then she transitioned a little more pop and much more vocally agile songs on red and her performances had a lot more movement and we saw some overall weak vocals on that tour. You can tell she did a lot more work going into the new sound of 1989 with notably different vowel choices and much more stamina to handle the high energy tour and the night and day difference is crazy, but you can still hear old habits in terms of technique and she has to sing so much harder to get the same results because her vocal chords aren’t as strong as they are today (speaking from experience lol). I would say Rep is the strongest I’ve heard from her (not sure we can count Lover Era as much bc it was cut short by covid however her Paris show is very good and I have never been able to replicate what she does on Cornelia Street in that performance). In Rep you can tell that she doesn’t have to sing near as hard to get the same power up high and she cuts out a lot of the more Rock sounding growls (sad for me but totally get it for vocal health, also any Karma truthers in the chat?). Obv Folklore and Evermore are great but much less vocally strenuous/belt-heavy. Anyway, I love seeing the same process I went through displayed on major artists, especially ones as big as Taylor who have clearly put in so much work and thought into their art form and their instrument!!

Had not seen this before...love it! Also loving the deep dive analysis!

You should react to Taylor singing Hopelessly Devoted to you in a demo when she was 13!!

Is it just me or is no link showing?
