ONCE UPON A TIME S02E01 WATCH PARTY

Comments

Kitty Thornton is correct, Regina didn't know Henry was Emma's son when she adopted him. In the episode where it's revealed that Rumple found Henry for her, Regina was surprised and angry with him that he deliberately chose that particular boy and set it up so Regina would have him. This is not a spoiler, it happened early in season one. I'm not saying this to defend Regina, only for context. And yes, I like her, but I didn't at this point in the series.

Okay so I make this argument for every reactor who gets to this episode of once upon a time: during Emma’s speech of how they would have been together but cursed. Yes that could have apsolutely happened but they could have been like granny and ruby together but hating each others guts or Jefferson and his daughter Paige/grace seperated where one knows the truth and the other doesn’t or they all don’t know the truth but still seperated or even another senerio where charming and snow are together but like David and Kathrine on brink of divorce/seperation and Emma’s caught in the middle… plus Henry wouldn’t have been created if Emma was also cursed as the rest of the kingdom bc he was integral to getting Emma to storybrook and believing in magic and ultimately breaking the curse… w/o Henry the show wouldn’t have been possible

Based on what you know so far, in season one, we find out the Rumplestiltskin is the one who found Henry for Regina. My perception when I watched this for the first time was that she didn't know - we see her question Rumplestiltskin as to where he got him early on in the season. I'm sorry people have been semi-spoiling things for you. I have definitely been holding my tongue on your Gold/Regina discourse but I will continue to do so until you get to those places!!

Kitty Thornton

Oooh, my favorite episode to see people's reaction to is in this season ✨️ and the next season is my favorite season ✨️

BipolarEmma

I did it! I finally caught up! I was a late start but I'm here now. I'm so happy you're continuing with this show!

Gina Tso

Youre welcome to give away all the spoilers in Discord. I purposely dont look there.

Omg I felt the same way! I was so sad when I thought Lafayette was going to die but then he never did. He was such an amazing character in the show. hmmm makes me want to read the books again. It's been sooooooo many years, I'm sure I forgot it all. I used to go jogging and listen to the audio books.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I just keep forgetting hahaha!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

hey 👋

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

oh good! I hope I start to like Aurora because right now I;m not a fan

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

The most important thing is that you're aware of it. I feel like thats the moment that everything in my life chnaged. The moment I realised I liked "puppies" I'm still totally attracted to them, as well as bad boys, but now I know the reality of it all is nothing like my hormones tell me

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

hahah! Did she just do that on her own?

I have seem a lot of this series and I want to say what I know but I also am NOT a fan of spoiling the fun and other’s opinions. I am so glad to rewatch this series with you I have loved every moment of it and love your opinions on it.

I knew you were awesome, but loving True Blood and even reading the books? Yeah, me too. Charlaine Harris is one of my favorite authors. But I'm glad Alan Ball didn't stick too closely to the books and didn't kill Lafayette. Best character ever. You really should continue watching Buffy. Season two is even better than season one. But I'm still here for Glee and Once Upon a Time. Love the watch parties! Love watching your enthusiasm for the shows you watch.

Jill

I'm happy you're already enjoying season 2! A little answer to your 'Magic land' question: the whole world is called the Enchanted Forest.

I don't think that Emma's reasoning is any less noble than the Charmings. There is something strong in recoganising you're not ready to be a parent. She was in prison, she had no money, nowhere to live and couldn't see a future for herself let alone a child and its not that she expects instant understanding from Henry, she explains and allows him his reaction which is one of understanding. As for her reaction to snow and charming, she's overwhelmed and still guarded. She's hurt and lashing out, in that respect her reaction is less mature than Henry's, but her circumstances after being given up were different, where Henry went to a stable home, Emma was shuttled around different homes, constantly unwanted and unloved even when she does find someone to love she's betrayed, more than once. There are several. Characters who find themselves dealing with similar situations, Henry, Emma, z, and so on and each of their reactions are different due to the circumstances they land in and each one is understandable

Just saying hi and I'm still watching

I watched OUaT like, 3 times so how did I completely forget about the storyline with Emma and Snow being in the magic land?😳 What I did not forget tho is how much people shipped Mulan and Aurora back in the days... I was one of them😂 I love them together (also yay Mulan! I was so happy when she appeared, she's one of my favorite Disney Characters🥰)

Patrick Rivera

Thank you for bringing up the fact that Emma's illogical reasoning of "they would have been together" is Crap. Emma tries to use that (that they abandoned her) to justify her behavior towards her parents for a good long while but if they wouldn't have sent her through, she likely wouldn't have even gone to Storybrooke because Regina probably would have killed her when her knights were looking for her because she knew the baby threatened the curse. And if she did decide not to kill her there's no freakingg way Emma would have grown up in Storybrooke in a good environment, much less WITH her parents(her parents weren't even With each other). She's the daughter of her sworn enemy, the woman she was willing to kill her father for, its common sense. More likely she would have grown up in a Cinderella type role, scrubbing floors with rags on from 4 or 5 years old on. But nope, she needs someone to blame, which would be understandable IF she didn't Expect to Escape that same blame from her own kid that she did the EXACT same thing to (and for a much less noble reason). When she tells Henry she did it to give him his best chance, she expects instant understanding and forgiveness, but when her parents do it, giving her the opportunity to escape whatever Horrible, literally Eternal existence Regina had planned for her, and then tell her the same thing, it's just "nope".

When did Snow try to persuade Emma to take Henry away from Regina in S1? Like specifically? Emma decided on her own when she realized Regina was framing Snow for murder, especially when Katheryn turned up alive, that Regina was obviously a wackjob and unhinged and that anyone who would do something like that wasn't someone who her son was probably safe around because from Emma and even Mary Margaret's POV Regina was framing her for no reason, since they didn't believe in Snow and Regina's past. When Emma told Snow and August in their apartment the next episode that she was taking Henry back they were surprised. Snow only encourages Emma to shut out Regina This season, really just cuz she's trying to get on Emma's good side because Emma starts acting like a brat with her now that she knows.

I was watching your commentary before the episode. Rumplestiltskin was the one that brought Henry to Regina. It wasn't until after that she learned he was Emma's son.

Gustavo Rojo-Buendia

The show has an extremely complicated family tree lol

Jennifer Lawrence

Absolutely loved your reaction! When you said “not my accessories!” I literally laughed out loud 😂 Also when you mentioned that Charming is Henry’s grandfather it made me realize that since Snow is Henry’s grandmother and Regina is Snow’s stepmother, that makes Regina both Henry’s Great grandmother as well as his adoptive mother. Wild!

DaphneQueen

Isn't that a bit of a spoiler though? There's a episode dedicated to that storyline.

Liliana C.

Another amazing reaction. I can't wait for you to see your reaction for the rest of season. This season is my absolute favorite and it has some great stuff, for all the characters, in it. Also, MULAAAAAN! My love! Her and Aurora's relationship is one of my favorites.

Liliana C.

I too have my own history with guys I thought I could "fix" by showering then with affection, care, attention, help, whatever I thought they needed or would help them "get better" or feel better about themselves/see themselves how I saw them. Took far too long for me to realize that I could only help them so much. No amount of doting on them was going to help. Especially if they didn't want help or acknowledged the problems they had. Nor was it my job to do so. I don't regret caring that much or being a person who wants to help. But, I regret taking too long to realize that I was just letting them take me down with them. Hindsight really is 20/20, I guess.

Jennifer Lawrence

Great reaction. Things really starting to heat up now! Fwiw I wasn't complaining about your reaction to Henry's adoption or his relationship with Regina at all, it's understandable given how the show presents it all. My complaints were more with the way the show and other characters in the show treat it. Especially Mary Margaret/Snow. The amount of times in season 1 where she was trying to persuade Emma to take Henry 'back' and don't give any other justification, even when they didn't know they were cursed and who he was. It made/makes me really hate snow!

Jason

I am so excited for this episode! Emma finally meeting her parents as her parents is one of my favorite moments. Fun fact to look out for when you watch this episode pay attention to how many layers Mary Margaret takes off throughout this episode because Ginnifer mentioned during a live Twitter watch party for this episode that they filmed the finale of season 1 in the winter and by the time they came back for season 2 it was hott so she took of as many layers as possible throughout the filming!

Tessa Gattullo

I'm so excited!!! Also, when they mention that Mr. Gold is the one who helped Regina get Henry, it was season 1 episode 2; a pretty long time ago so it makes sense that you wouldn't remember because they literally haven't mentioned it since then. Basically the way I see is Regina was lonely and this curse was supposed to be her "happy ending." Everyone feeling at least slightly miserable because the best thing in their lives are missing. She remembers she killed her father for this and feels bad so she decides to raise a kid and name him after her father, which we saw his name on his grave in Story Brooke and in Fantasy Land. It just so happens that the kid Mr. Gold finds for her is Emma's biological son.
