2023-08-04 13:07:33 +0000 UTCI am here for EJ and Gina too. I see it the way you do, that they have the makings of such a dynamic duo if given the chance. They have both been on the side of taking shortcuts to getting what they want and have since accepted who they were (even the bad stuff) and have just been trying to be better people and are finding their way. I think that it's fitting that they are coming together in a way that is slower and more organic than other couples on this show. And they are genuinely friends. In the Quinceanero episode, EJ genuinely asked her how she was doing and she was really touched that he would take the time to ask her that. That interaction, even though it was very brief, was enough for me to see that they'd be really good with each other. I can see them each appreciating the little things about each other, while also both having the depth to carry on a stronger relationship bond. If it takes them pretending to be dating for them to explore that possibility in a lighter context, then I'm all for it and hope that they see things differently soon. I think Lily is definitely not just someone who wants to win, but who also wants to make the competition (namely those who have wronged her in the past) suffer. By telling them that they can't use the Rose Song, she basically takes away not just the song from the show, but also the wind out of whatever sails of confidence they may have had. I don't think that this will hurt them in the long run though because they are relying on gimmicks and showstopping songs for their confidence when what they really should be focusing on is their own talent and performances because East High has such a depth of talent to draw from that they are forgetting that in favor of trying to outdazzle North High. People may be drawn to gimmicks and glitz, but the better performance is what is more memorable and heartfelt in the end.
