There are a lot of marriage storlyines in glee, and there is always drama in the way. i personally dont ever want to get married. its not for me at all.

lila22

Lol I came back to mention pp2!

ashinscribbleland

Funny😆 old school🏫 throwback. The theme song is unforgettable, lol.😅✌🏼

Koko

Not really. I don't remember the timeline that much, but we barely see them together anyway except for one episode. Considering the treatment Artie received in every season it's not really surprising.

Pauline

I do too :)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Aw are they gonna break up fast?! Lame :(

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I so love Kitty and Artie together. They look cute, they sound fab and they balance each other out. I really wish we could have seen more instead of the usual love triangle bullshit.

Pauline

Stevie Wonder 😎🎹 is one of the stepping stones that made music what it is and he was original. He will never go out of style.✌🏼The entire original cast 🎭 should have done a Stevie Wonder 😎🎹 and an Elton John 🕺🏻🎹tribute (in separate episodes), it would have been much better. 😁 To be fair, they did not cover all the greats either.

Koko

YEEEAAAH X2 AGREE WITH YOU I-M 97 and I love jamming to stevie wonder

yasna gonzalez sanchez

i respectfully disagree lol i love jamming out to stevie! :)

Lynn

This was a good episode! I love Stevie Wonder.

Georgia Beauchemin

Saying he moved on because the show was less popular is not an opinion. You’re making something up without knowing.

Guillermo Orozco

No. Ryan and the other two creators wrote the entire first three seasons, after that, they had a writing team

Guillermo Orozco

i disagree because, i dont think the writing is worse then in the first 3 seasons. i love all seasons and 2-3 are my fav, but the writing was just as weird, as it is in the later seasons. and honetly there many things i like about the later seasons. like that they focus on more characters then just rachel, finn and will, sue which was mostly the case. the cast is just as great, as in the beginnig.

lila22

Excuse me? I love Elton but Stevie Wonder is a freaking legend. Superstition, Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours, Ebony and Ivory, For Once in My Life, You Are the Sunshine of My Life, Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing???

Heida

Yeah he was like 26/27 when the show started. Mark and Harry were also the same age. Actors who play teens on TV shows are usually in their twenties.

Heida

omg she is just amazing!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

oh wow! He would have been older than me. FOr some reason I thought he was a lot younger

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Is he still writting it at this point?

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Maybe because I'm a music teacher, but Stevie Wonder has a ton of hits and he was the foundation for a lot of music today. But I totally agree that maybe it wasnt the best fit. Elton John would have been more colorful and fun which I think is better suited for Glee

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

you don't have to agree with me. that's my own opinion. and so did a lot of peoples, cause the ratings speak for itself

maxmamax

Sorry but Stevie Wonder's music sounds really outdated and not popular enough to ignite a spark of interest with his songs. His biggest known hits are I just called to say I love you and Isn't she lovely and that's it. They could've done Elthon John instead who's much more popular around the world. I was going to add more comments about the songs and plots but I already forgot what happened in this episode :P XD. Not only Cory is gone, (before they knew it was forever), but Heather Morris was obviously also leaving the show and thus changing their storylines. There have been several episodes where she's not around, perhaps medical leaves, who knows, but she was supposed to be around, therefore the show feels really empty by now.

Capri Zonica

The best will always be the original characters,🤩 but I still enjoy the performances💃🏼🕺🏽with the new 🆕 cast. Even though 🤔the originals wanted to be in the spotlight,🔦they had a different☺️feeling, and with all these new characters and transfers, it's more chaotic. 🫤 Also, we are left imagining 🤔 what it was like for Mike, Mercedes, Quinn, Finn and Santana after graduating.🎓 They try to bring them back around 🌀 (and we appreciate it) but it feels different 😕 somehow. It would have been nice 👍🏼 to see 👀 them more. ✌🏼🎊

Koko

i stronly disagree

lila22

the spark of this show was long gone at this point. not just the cast, even the production seemed way off. you can blame Ryan Murphy for ruined everything, once Glee became less popular, he immediately moved on and gave up this show

maxmamax

I feel like I'm one of few who actually liked and related to the S4 newbies. But, I get the comparison between Kitty/Quinn, Ryder/Finn and obviously Jake/Puck. Marley and Rachel, however, could not be more different. I will never understand why some people dislike Marley and I also think people's judgement of Ryder is clouded by how they feel about Blake. Kitty is definitely the one with the most growth, and Jake is extremely talented but he will always be little Puckerman. Fun fact: Kevin McHale had proposed that Katey Sagal should play Artie's mum during the 2012 Comic-Con shortly before S4 began shooting. While I'm still mad at Artie for last episode, I love his line “Passion can be a scary thing but we shouldn’t run or hide from it.” Notice how this is the first time Cassandra calls Rachel by her real name rather than 'Schwimmer' (as in David Schwimmer)? I've always loved Kate Hudson as an actor but Glee showed she's a real triple thread (not to mention ridiculously gorgeous). Also noticed in the first scene, Rachel tells Will he's the first one she told about the callback, even before Kurt who was with her when she got the call. And like someone else mentioned, she credits Will for putting together Don't Stop Believin', but that was all them because he had already decided to leave and just happened to walk by. Lastly, you posted this on May 11th which would have been Cory's 41st birthday. And I can't believe it but July 13th will be 10 years since he died. I still remember like it was yesterday.

Heida

Yeah you can definitely tell that the season 5 storylines were somewhat thrown together after Corys passing

Sophie R

Seriously! The two craziest episodes are my favorite in the series so good!

Ellie

Plus certain season 6 episodes are like a fever dream they’re just so insane it’s hilarious

Sophie R

Well the New Rachel episode definitely did point to the idea of finding the new centre of the glee club, and it was implied that Marley got that position, but it wasn’t meant to say that Marley is Rachel and they’re identical

Sophie R

I agree, I never really connected to the new cast as much as I loved the original cast. I spent the rest of the show feeling very bitter about the fact that we didn’t follow Quinn or Santana after graduation. Side note, literally everything Kate Hudson does is just… ooh🥵.

Sophie R

Love the music industry advice. I’m long past the desire to be in the industry… not my passion anymore anyway, but a lot there that I had never thought of!!! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with this younger generation! 💛

Shannon Hartman

I cant wait for you to dee the guest stars that appear in season 5. I'll be shocked if you dont recognize them or dont know who they are.

Michaela Evans

The next episode has some of my favourite setlists for an opposing team (the only other time this happens is in S5 and in S6) . I also LOVE the setlist for New Directions for Regionals this season because it's truly a taste of the new cast as people.

Lauren Obeng

I LOVE this episode, it's funny and the songs are great, and Burt's advice to Blaine is spot on! I won't spoil it by saying how Blaine took that advice, because you're gonna see next episode. I will say that he is indeed the greatest TV Dad and I miss Burt Hummel dishing out his wisdom and being so supportive.

Jennifer Adame

Loved your advice about the music industry! I think the options to be in the industry but not in front of the camera is too overlooked.

Jennifer Adame

I think your advice at the end about the music industry was really sound. The only slight qualm I have is with the statement that Mercedes "doesn't have the look that's needed." Lizzo I'd say is an incredible example of someone who is killing it in the industry despite not having the typical look of a female pop star, and I am SO THANKFUL for her influence which suggests there doesn't need to be a "typical look" for someone to be amazing, admired, and hugely successful. We know her journey has been (and I'm sure continues to be) extremely difficult and so your point about people needing to decide if they really want to go through all of that is well made. I also never felt very connected to the new cast, for similar reasons I think as others have mentioned about how they chose to follow multiple storylines. I'll be interested to see what you think of season 5 - I personally really enjoyed the 2nd half (when there's a clear change in the structure) even though I know not everyone agrees. As for this episode, I love it. It's one of my faves of S4. Agree that Burt's talk with Blaine was great- as is everything from him. Will be interested to see what you think of what happens with all that!

scarr

I'll forever be upset with how the ED storyline was handled in the end. Especially when Kitty admitted to Marley what she did.

Jennifer Lawrence

i actually like the season 4 cast. yes, i like the orginal cast way more, but i think the season 4 one is fine. i really like marley and even jake (even though without spoiling he gets annyoing in season 5) im meh with kitty and ryder. i just dont care for ryder at all, and even thought i think kitty is fine in season 5 and 6, i just cant get behind der giving marley an eating disorder.

lila22

Kate Hudson who plays cassie was a huge support for lea when cory first passed she even stayed at her house until lea was ready to face the home she lived in with cory

megan vickers

Here’s my take on the new characters. I am definitely one who prefers the original cast more however I do like Jake and Marley. Kitty grew on me towards the end of season 4. Ryder I just did not and still do not like. I find him quite annoying actually with his over the top antics during performances. It just feels to me like he’s trying way too hard to be noticed. The split storylines between McKinley and NY I feel just didn’t help the new characters in the long run because they weren’t able to really flesh them out and as you mentioned get that connection. Unfortunately due to Cory’s passing, it resulted in abruptly losing the new characters introduced this season so we didn’t get to really know them as long as we did with the original cast in 3 seasons. I honestly just wish they prolonged graduation and had season 4 with the originals still in glee club.

Benjamin Smith

Yea it was uncomfortable for me to hear Mercedes give outdated singing advice hahah

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Thats gotta be hard for the writers since it was laready declining in views and then everything they planned suddenly changes

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Yeah nobody ever really connected to the new cast lol. When the og cast graduated in season 3 the writers did choose to keep Artie, Tina, Sam, Blaine and Brittney in high school to blend with the new cast so it wasn't a completely new glee club. Also before Cory's passing Finn was supposed to anchor the new directions and eventually replace Mr Shue i believe, this was all built up throughout season 4, so that changed things and you will see how in season 5.

Gigi

Exactly. She's never been a dancer. Mike and Brittany were the dancers. She always had room to improve there, but she wasn't Finn. She wasn't dangerous 😂

Ellie

That’s exactly how I feel. Rachel definitely at a rate to stand up for herself, but in the long run, I think she was necessary for Rachels development and ego. Also, how was Cassandra wrong about Rachel when her dancing wasn’t that great?

Selma Jabr

This episode is good, but definitely not a top tear tribute episode. IDK what the choreography in the 1st 2 songs were but at least it got better. The thing Mercedes mentions to Marley about getting more control to hold a note was clearly written by someone who doesn’t sing. Also I too love Kurt’s voice on this music type and wish they gave him some more often, instead of mostly Broadway.

Selma Jabr

lol @ rachel saying will is to thank for dont stop believin but it was actually finn who coordinated that whole thing because will had quit to be an accountant

Nicole M

But Brittany has always been a genius, it’s just that the only one that cared to really see her was Santana. She was telling her she was a genius even back in season 2. Brittany and Sam don’t bring out the best in each other. They are too similar and feed off each others crazy ideas and then they are both left unchecked, hence the whole Mayan apocalypse thing. They are great as friends because they are so similar, though. Brittany and Santana, though, they lift each other up while also grounding each other. Yin and Yang, opposites that truly complement each other.

Annie Willow

My beloved dumpster fire 💖

Annie Willow

My parents never cared what we watched so I was definitely watching Married with Children but I just had no idea what was going on anyway.

Annie Willow

This show is a dumpster fire but I will always re-watch especially with first timers like Audrey ❤

Ellie

Omg! I can't believe we are almost done with season 4! I feel like it went so fast. I think you're going to enjoy the next couple of episodes!

Sabrina Louis

Katey Segal was the actress and the show was Married with Children. She was also on the show 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter and even sings in an episode. Also you will see when you watch it but she is also in Pitch Perfect 2. :) This was a great episode with great music. I too didn't really connect with the new cast and always preferred the original cast. I just wish we saw more of Quinn in seasons 4-6 as she and Rachel were always my favorite characters.

Lydia Shepard

I completely agree. I never connected with any of the new characters the way I did with the original cast. I think it was because it seemed as though they hit copy and paste with the new cast and so they never really fleshed out the new characters and gave them a chance to be original or even have original storylines. Examples are the love triangle except it was reversed (a girl having to decide between two boys instead of a boy deciding between two girls), the "bad boy" who is interested in sleeping around and doesn't care about anyone but himself, the bitchy, blonde cheerleader who learns to be more accepting of others and realizes that she actually enjoys being a part of Glee club, etc. I would have loved these next three seasons so much more if they either completely focused on McKinley and the Glee club and had the old cast pop in every once in a while for big events or holidays, or completely focused on the old cast and followed their stories after graduation. I understand the unwillingness of the writers to part from the old cast because everyone has become attached to those characters and Glee would definitely be different without them, but it would make for much better television if they had realized that they couldn't successfully show both sides of the coin without there being consequences, like all of the inconsistencies and plot holes. However, despite this show being a dumpster fire, I love it and I loved your reaction. I'm looking forward to the next one :)

Gabi Rajic

I'm with you on not connecting with the new characters despite them being talented. I would have preferred to follow the journeys of the original club even after high school. I also felt like glee tried to recycle archetypes with the new cast and that just made the comparison of new to old club more extreme (like Quinn and Kitty).

Lauren

I love this episode. I think this episode demonstrates how important was this tv show to younger generations, who may not heard about Stevie Wonder’s music before, and now they could get interested in that kind of music, and to remember us that good music will always be timeless. This is why I miss this show so much. Love your reactions!

Felipe Miranda

And just to add on to my way too many comments, sorry. The Brittany and Sam storylines in 4 just made no sense. Sam was so sweet and so much less dumb before. He had Dyslexia, I think, but he wasn't dumb. Britany being a genius? Just really didn't get it. But I get the crunch the writers were on

Ellie

I feel similarly that I never got as connected to the new cast as I did the originals. Or even anyone from the first 3 seasons. I enjoyed a lot of their performances and liked them as characters. But, I never got that same investment in them and their futures past graduating highschool. Probably a big part of why I dropped off watching after the main cast graduated and stopped being shown as often. Luckily some (like Santana, who's my favorite) actually get more screen time in season 5 versus 4.

Jennifer Lawrence

When I was a kid back in the 90s that was one of my parent's favorite shows. I remember being in bed for the night and hearing the theme song playing. My younger brother and I definitely weren't allowed to watch it lol.

Jennifer Lawrence

For the longest time I thought she was Allison Janney and I feel so dumb lol. Her real name is Katey Sagal

Ellie

It makes a lot of sense you are more connected with the orginals, we watched them grow up. And with the split stories of NY and the high school it was hard to connect. I really preferred the high school because I was just sick of a lot of Rachel's storyline. I loved the teacher, didn't care much about the rest of the college it's just how you perceive. I know a lot of people don't love season 6 but I do like it. But I think you'll like season 5, I think it covers the kids better and while season 6 is different than the previous 5 it's got a special place in my heart

Ellie

Married with Children is the show you were thinking of.

Haughtbreaker Nic

I really like the new characters in Season 4. They gave the show a makeover, their stories really are flawed, but they came on as recurring characters (becoming main cast members in Season 5). I never understood the fans' hatred for Marley, I realized that it was because I thought she would replace Rachel, but that was never the goal, because Rachel continued on the Program.... Just because she entered the episode "The new Rachel" , made this comparison, when it was about the New Rachel in NY. Well, Marley is one of the best characters, simple, worried about her friends, fragile to help herself but strong to help others, she always had more Finn than Rachel. It's sad that with Cory's death, and later Lea's whims (which most of the cast has already said) these characters were discarded in the last season, and practically erased in the 5th. But, I always thought season 4 was the best of glee, and that series should have ended in episodes 13 of season 5. (no spoilers)

Mr Filipe

I know Cassie is so mean but Rachel really really needed to be taken down pegs over the years. So I think it was kinda necessary to an extent. And she was nice when it counted
