I would love to see you react to the live action Cinderella that came out in 2015 with Lily James. It's my favorite live action remake adaptation that Disney has done. I personally think it's their best.

2024-01-17 15:02:16 +0000 UTCI think this movie was great. A lot of people get stuck up on Will Smith being the genie because obviously he can’t replace Robin Williams, but he wasn’t trying to replace Robin Williams, he was just trying add his own personal taste to the movie.

2023-04-21 13:13:19 +0000 UTCObviously I'm not a vocal coach so maybe I'm overlooking some mistakes that might be there, but I liked Will Smith as the genie. It's the same as Russel Crowe in Les Miserables to me, I don't think either of them deserve the hate they get for these roles.

2023-03-24 02:11:02 +0000 UTCI can't even say how many times I've seen the original. Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, (and everything older) was like totally my childhood. I really didn't even know if I was going to watch it until now. Honestly, I think Will as Genie was my biggest hesitancy. I've watched some (but not all) of the live action versions Disney has been doing and a lot of them just don't bring enough new stuff to the table for me to compare to the originals. If I could some up this movie in one word it would be GORGEOUS. Literally, everything was so fascinating and beautiful. From the people, to the big scenery, to even the marketplace, and smaller details. The colors, the textures, the depth of this whole world felt like something other movies have lacked. Another thing that really sold me on it was the magic. Seeing the way they brought the cave of wonders to life and especially carpet... that was just such a fun experience to see as technology has been updated. One of the things I read on imdb, was that Dev Patel (Newsroom, Slumdog Millionaire, a bunch of other stuff) was in like the top 4 picks for Aladdin. Now, I loved Mena and wouldn't have changed the casting, but Dev would have been such an interesting choice. I don't know if he can sing? I've never heard him, but he's got such a great acting range that would have fit the roll. I love him. It just would have been very fun to see. It was also super nice to see so much accurate history and culture into this. I always love when movies/shows really put in this kind of effort now. I also really loved that we got more backstory on Jasmine's mom and other areas of the show. I was a little distracted while watching it so I might rewatch it in a few weeks. I've been annoyingly inspired to buy a freaking step machine. (And now almost convinced to bump up a tier on backstage--I'm gonna be broke guys lmfao). Okay, rant is over... I think... (I really feel like I'm forgetting something I wanted to say).

2023-03-23 04:30:25 +0000 UTCI love the music in this film, and not just the songs but also the background music. This is one of my “calm” films - a film that doesn’t have a ‘scary’ or ‘uncomfortable’ scene as such (it has its moments but it’s not like lion king level)

He was Rapunzel's prince in Into the Woods and starred on Broadway in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Both of them had small roles in a number of TV shows and movies.

I liked that he was sort of himself as a classic Will Smith but obviously kept some of the nuances of the original character. I think if he played a completely different persona, it wouldn't be the same movie. It is a "live action version" after all, not a "remake." I think people put too much emphasis on "he's no Robin Williams." Well no, he's Will Smith lol interpreting the character of the genie the way Will Smith would. No different than Naomi or Mena playing their characters with their own interpretations yet keeping some of those classic Jasmine and Aladdin moments.

Anyways I love will smith in this movie I think he did great and brought so much to it, his own character ;) the live action was intended to be a whole new thing w the same plot line ofc and more modern and they definitely did that!! Loved ur reaction even though u didn’t like will smith breaks my heart lol but maybe u were a little bias cause of ur love for robin William but everyone gets their own opinion ofc!! Cant wait for Matilda next🙂 ||. Also u may know dalia (jasmines friend) from new girl that’s where ik her from the actresses name is Nasim Pedrad
