2023-04-05 09:04:58 +0000 UTCI didn’t go over all the comments to see if your question about Kenny Ortega was answered yet or not. But he’s known for creating the High School Musical movies as well as Descendants 1-3. Other than Boo Boo Stewart playing Willie, Julie’s best friend Flynn and the bad guy Caleb were in the 3rd descendants, he sings in descendants too! Kenny Ortega also named Julie’s brother Carlos after Cameron Boyce’s character Carlos in descendants in honor of him.

2023-03-31 07:54:08 +0000 UTCYou asked what Kenny Ortega has done, well some things you've already reviewed. He was the creative mind and director behind the Descendants and High School Musical franchises, as well as one of the Cheetah Girls movies (2). He also directed a couple older great Disney movies: Newsies and Hocus Pocus. In addition to all of that, he has a long history in music. He has directed concerts for Cher, Gloria Estefan, Miley Cyrus, and Michael Jackson. He also has done chreography for non-musical movies with musical moments, including the big parade dance number in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and he was the choreographer for Pretty in Pink and Dirty Dancing. Guy has some serious chops

2023-03-30 23:28:12 +0000 UTCJeremy Shada (Reggie) was the initial reason I checked out this show because I knew him as the voice of Finn from the cartoon Adventure Time. One of my favorite cartoons growing up. He did a lot of singing on that show too.

2023-03-25 04:50:12 +0000 UTCThats so interesting! I hadn't known that about the song. Honestly though now that I know it's not surprising thinking of the lyrics. It's on his album Vintage and that whole album is awesome

2023-03-21 09:54:35 +0000 UTCNewsies is the one that blew my mind. Growing up, Newsies was my HSM.

2023-03-21 09:41:48 +0000 UTCTalking To A Memory is a song Jeremy released that you'll find Charlie's name as co-writer in the credits at the end. Charlie said they wrote it for the show. It was supposed to be a Luke/Julie duet... something about Caleb having captured the guys and Julie searching for them.

2023-03-21 09:39:57 +0000 UTCTHat is so beautiful to hear! Oh I love that they all worked on the songs more as a team. That makes sense as to why they sounded so connected to the song when they performed them

2023-03-21 08:01:42 +0000 UTCGive your thanks to David. He really pushed doing this series and I'm so thankful that he did. It was really a beautiful show. The ending is so sad because they didnt know when filming that this would be the end. I'm sure they assumed there would another season :(

2023-03-21 07:43:40 +0000 UTCIf you liked Reggie's voice, Jeremy Shada who's the actor that plays him has an album called 'Vintage' out. He also has a couple of singles, one of which he dedicated to the Julie and the Phantoms fans

2023-03-20 03:00:49 +0000 UTCSo sad to see this one end. We deserved so much more, but more importantly these talented actors/musicians deserved much more. They did so well with these characters and I haven't really seen much more of them since the show. They became corporeal again at the end. I shed a tear every time I see Julie hug them. They all just wanted to be able to do that the whole series. And I want to know what it all means...I definitely think that their purpose was so much bigger than playing the Orpheum and that they were somehow going to be able to help Julie reconnect with her mom someday. I still can't seem to pick a favorite of the boys on the band...they all have their own special qualities that I love about them. The music was top notch for being originals and on a TV show. I have a playlist of just these songs and listen to them regularly. They've got catchy tunes and just an overall great message. Thanks for taking us on the ride Audrey!

2023-03-20 00:19:29 +0000 UTCThere is an actual petition out there to bring this show back, and people are still signing it! It's almost to 300,000 signatures, I bet we could all get it there if we tried :) https://www.change.org/p/netflix-we-want-season-2-of-julie-and-the-phantoms

2023-03-18 05:23:01 +0000 UTCI have watched it so many times and still love it also when Kenny Ortega put this together he wanted them to be an actual band so they can all play sing and write music. There were plans for a tour after more seasons

2023-03-18 05:20:51 +0000 UTCWe will get answers eventually. I'm pretty sure that Kenny said that once they are absolutely certain it's not going to get picked up by another network/platform, he will talk about what would have happened next. They know how passionate the fans are about it, so they won't leave us hanging if they don't have to.

2023-03-18 03:56:00 +0000 UTCThe credits of them singing. The part after Madi singing is Jeremy singing not Charlie.

2023-03-18 03:31:15 +0000 UTC*sigh* Unfortunately, $30 is really steep just to indulge my obsession in one show so I'm going to miss out on the extra stuff.

2023-03-18 03:01:03 +0000 UTCKenny didn't write the songs, they had a whole slew of songwriters (plus, yanno, Charlie and Maddie) but if you end up watching some of the Becker videos that have them practicing to demos you'll get a hint at how much the band and their coaches had their fingerprints all over the finished product, as well. There's one in particular I'm thinking of where they were hearing the Stand Tall demo for the first time and Maddie was like... this is a little flat (it was)... and Kenny agreed and said they'd work on it. Off the top of my head for specific examples, though, the guys picked their own solos in Now Or Never, Charlie asked for and created the guitar solo in Edge of Great, Nothing To Lose didn't have the instrument solos originally and Charlie asked for them, saying he didn't believe Luke would be tempted at all just by a Broadway number, it needed to have their rock (Owen and Jeremy agreed)... and so the guys and their coaches created those (and Cheyenne Jackson added the scatting for that section). LOL In one livestream with Kenny and Charlie, Kenny jokingly asked if there was a single scene Charlie hadn't brought him some great idea about. Hell, The whole singing on the same mic thing that is so emblemic of the band was Charlie's idea in the group audition that the showrunners adopted. It's so hard to believe that kid never played a lead before and mostly had bit parts. On a completely other note, that spinning turn possessed Nick does at the end is the absolute most cringy thing in the show, imo. I have a hard time watching it it gives me such bad secondhand embarassment.
