They've confirmed the Julie and Luke relationship was always supposed to be a slow burn... their first kiss wasn't supposed to be until the 3rd or 4th season. That wasn't even exactly to do with the actors' ages, that's just the way Kenny Ortega likes it... the emphasis was on their connection. Charlie and Maddie talk often (to this day) on how they liked modeling that kind of relationship for kids. One based on being best friends first, and less about jumping to the physical. As for being cancelled, I entirely blame covid. I feel like Netflix just felt as if they missed their window... at this point Maddie's 18, Charlie's 24 and Jeremy is 26ish. Even at 22/23 Charlie's face changed quite a bit (though the hairstyle might have helped) and they've talked about how big Julie's little brother got, he probably would've had to be recast. I'd still take it all, but they would've become that show everyone always jokes about in comparison when they start watching this one - where all the actors look 30 playing 16.

perfectkismet

it was a great idea

fun fact that little guitar thing Luke did in edge of great where he walked up to the piano is something Charlie Gillespie (Luke) showed Kenny Ortega before filming that scene and then decided to add it to the show

Bridget Monahan

Uhh yikes I didn’t know that, that is quite the gap 😬

Hi guys I’m new here and I can’t find the password that allows me to watch de episodes, can someone help me with it please 🙏🏻

The “controversy” around Julie and Luke being together isn’t about the age gap of the characters but rather the age gap between the actors. Madison was 15 when they started filming while Charlie was 21.

Can't wait until you release the next two eps ahhh

“Girls am I right?” “Yeah” “No” is like one of my favorite interactions in the whole show, the no from Alex always makes me laugh. But ya...Reggie is definitely bi XD Fun fact: The actors for Julie and Luke actually wrote the song "Perfect Harmony" (the dance song) together. This was also Madison Reyes' (Julie's) first role. She also taught herself to sing to save money.

MountainDreams

No, I remember waiting a year to have any news about a new season, and then they said it was cancelled. I think if it wasn't for covid it probably would have been renewed, because they wanted them to go on tour like an actual band. But since they couldn't Netflix didn't want anything to do with it anymore. I just want like Disney Plus or something to take it from Netflix and renew it. In my head I even have ideas of how they can spin the time jump. I just want it back!

Turnip Crazy

Totally agree with you Reggie is definitely bi. Don't know if he realizes it yet, but I mean come on, Reggie was feeling things for Luke in that moment. I also believe Luke has been confirmed as bi, but that might have just been Charlie saying he believes Luke is bi.

I really feel you would enjoy doing a comparison of each song from this show. Because there is differences between the episode's versions of the songs and the album version. This episodes songs have obvious examples. For Perfect Harmony, the song is shorter in the episode and it ends softer and more sentimental. For Edge of Great, that guitar moment where Luke really wanted Julie's attention isn't in the album's version. Just a little idea so you can keep your love of this show a bit longer.

Turnip Crazy

Such a great episode. First off, love Julie's little brother, Carlos. He so overlooked as a character, but I love his energy, loyalty, and of course his ghost hunting. And Julie's dad is right up there with Burt Hummel for me in terms of best TV dads. I love all the boys in this show. Poor Alex, feeling responsible for all this and the angst of the push/pull dynamic between him and Willie...such a great source of tension and just makes me want them together so much more. Then you've got Luke's bravado and then the kicked puppy look he gets whenever he feels like Julie doesn't pay enough attention to him, like in the hall at school and then during the song. You can totally see his face fall when he motions with his head for Julie to join him during the song and she totally looks and goes the other way. Did anyone else notice how they totally made their outfits match for Edge of Great? The color splashes on his outfit were totally meant to match her butterflies... And Reggie is totally bi in my book! He so wanted Luke to kiss him when they were rehearsing and then there's the total crush he has on Julie's dad (not that I blame him because her dad is definitely swoon worthy) Lastly, I really want a best friend like Flynn, she's amazing. All the characters on this show are great...why is Netflix so stupid for letting this one go...

Gemma Rivera

So, I've watched the scene where they meet Caleb and he stamps them several times now. I realized that he sneakily got them to make a deal. He got Luke to say "we'd love to come back" to which Caleb smiled and said "music to my ears" and then stamped them. So I think Luke saying "we'd love to come back" was enough for Caleb to stamp them.

Sean Silence

I believe they were renewed for a second season but covid happened before production could start and netflix ended up choosing to cancel it among a bunch of others
