Itโs so cool ๐ that you did this react on a drive. ๐ Depending on when this was released, ๐ค Martin Short was either 71 or 72 years old. ๐ He is currently on, Only Murders in the Building, (maybe ๐๐) with Steve Martin and Selena Gomez. They are all so amazing. ๐คฉ Belle for sure had Stockholm Syndrome. One awesome thing about Belle, she was a total nerd ๐ and didnโt care what anyone thought. And the library ๐ in the castle ๐ฐ is a dream.๐คฉ Iโm unsure of who he resembles him but actor Robby Benson from Ice Castles๐ง๐ฐ and Ode to Billy Joe, voiced the beast aka Prince Adam in the original. And he still voices ๐ฃ๏ธ him for Disney projects. I love all the inclusivity of the performers. ๐คฉ๐๐ผ They chose an excellent group of people for this production.๐๐ผ Some things could have been done differently. Also, It seems H.E.R. is more at ease performing in her glasses, ๐ with a guitar. ๐ธ All of the dancing ๐๐ฝ๐บ๐ป was so beautiful. ๐ Celine Dion was originally approached for the role of Mrs. Potts, ๐ซ but she was ill ๐ค at the time. โฐ Instead, they offered Shania Twain the role. And this was all done part live and part animation. The animations and sets were all so incredible. ๐คฉ๐๐ผ This was a fun ๐คฉ experience. I saw this and had to share it. 2023-05-24 07:33:01 +0000 UTCI am a little late in responding to this -but there are so many videos of Joshua Henry (Gaston) performances from past Broadway productions. He was last seen as Rapunzel's Prince in "Into the Woods" on Broadway and was last Tony nominated (his third nomination) for his performance in "Carousel"in 2018. There is a bootleg of his performance as Aaron Burr in the original national tour of "Hamilton" that I can say is as good if not better than Leslie Odom Jr. He also has his own youtube page with original music that is amazing!

2023-05-22 23:10:10 +0000 UTCI was cracking up at all the comments about cartoon Gaston looking like he had Bruce Campbell's jaw line (Ash/Evil Dead). I never noticed that before, and even though this story is bizarre and so unhealthy I've seen the movie a billion times as a kid. I think I had a poster even? Idk childhood is a blur sometimes. Stockholm Syndrome is what it's called when you fall for your captor and there is def a lot of that happening. But (gotta check...) to 10 year old me: Belle was pretty, she put Gaston in his place, was told she was a weirdo and did not care, and HOW MANY BOOKS ARE IN THAT LIBRARY????, plus the music? I was not complaining. She's not my fave Disney lady, but she's up there (for the reasons above not the story), along with Megara from Hercules (voiced by Susan Egan who did Belle on Broadway for a while), Alice in Wonderland, Ariel, and a bunch of newer Disney girls. Honestly, a lot of the classic Disney females were kinda meh. I can remember all the hype of the original coming out. My best friend and I had the soundtrack on tape before the movie was released. We used to mute the little mermaid and watch it with the b&b soundtrack. (very wizard of oz/dark side of the moon... idk we thought we were cool).

The numbers I find least effective numbers are performed by H.E.R. and Shania Twain a pop and country artist respectively. The other recording artist in the show, Josh Groban does really well because he is a classical artist with superb technique which compares well with musical theater where diction is a priority. Maybe it could be performed more modern if the entire cast sung it that way.
