GLEE S03E10 WATCH PARTY

Comments

I watched this show literally 10 times and I’m just realizing Sam calls beiste “sir” in the scene he asks to join the basketball team ..??

Dylan Appis

Every time I watch that episode all I can think off is how Corey died

Thomas Kidd

You questioned whether you missed the part about Finn joining the army - it was during the scene when Mr. Schue was looking at rings and asked Finn to be his best man. Funnily, during the video you disappeared from the corner during that whole scene. Problems filming? Also, I choose to give this show a lot of grace in terms of how quickly they move the timeline of things...it's TV. Do I think teens should be getting married? No. But I also don't have a problem with TV skipping over a lot of the "planning" part if it's not essential to the overall plot.

Bethany VerMerris

Yeah the snapping at waiters thing will be resurfaced later this season. Also fun fact: the pool is the same pool that Pirates of the Caribbean was partially filmed in.

Selma Jabr

Woohoo!!!

Georgia Beauchemin

I never noticed but at the beginning Puck kissed Sams hand at te start of Summer loving

Teri

yes! We're watching Evil Dead tomorrow night to launch hos channel!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

OMG! That's hilarious!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

hahah! Oh that would be hilarious!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I don't do them live because I live in thailand and the time difference is HUGE from most of my followers. I'm also batching watch parties right now because I'll be traveling in europ next month for three weeks.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I loved the songs in the episode. When you do these watch parties do you actually do them live or just repost so we can watch along later? Late congrats on 10 year anniversary. I completely understand the being together long term and not needing to be married and knowing you would marry the person. 21 year this last April with my “husband”. We do have to do a bit of extra legal stuff /planning since we own prior together and to make sure the other has medical POA since we don’t have the legal contract of marriage.

Mindy Olson

Whenever I watch 'We Found Love' I think of the YT video called 'How Glee would sound in real life', you should really watch it, it's hilarious. Imagine the acoustics of singing a number in a swimming pool 😂

Romy

The Summer Lovin’ scene was filmed at the same school where they filmed Grease the Movie! Sue and Coach Beiste wore those weird wedding head pieces to make fun of the weird ones those cousins wore when Prince William married Katherine! Google it! It’s too funny!

Marc Acosta

when you watch without you in the context of cory and lea and not rachel and finn it’s extremely sad

fry

@Mia Oh, absolutely I agree that Finn was also floundering. He had just found out life changing news and had his foundations cracked. My main point was that anchoring yourself in someone else that way is risky and ultimately unfair to yourself in the long run. Anchoring yourself in your dreams is also a risky proposition, but at least they are yours born out of your deepest desires and wishes and you also have the power to change them whenever you'd like to and are ready. Finn liked being the leader and the quarterback and to see Rachel wavering in her dream as well had him going into rescue mode for them. They hadn't even received a firm no from NYADA yet, they were just dramatizing the anticipation (which is what teenagers will do), but a proposal is so extreme and a total deflection from actually accepting and dealing with possible loss. About Brittana, they had their cracks for sure, but I honestly don't believe that any of these couples would have actually made good long lasting couples given what we were shown of them throughout the series (I won't go too far into detail because I don't want to specifically spoil anything). As we see so clearly in this episode, even the adult relationships were running on pure emotion (Will rushing into proposal without really taking any time to consider that maybe it takes a lot more than strong feelings to make a good foundation for marriage and let's talk about the fact that they had Beiste elope after just 5 episodes of a relationship...and one of those episodes had them basically broken up because of Sue). So if this is the example that they're given by adults in their lives added in with the fact that they're hormonal and not yet fully matured teenagers, then of course we're going to get these crazy emotional reactions from them Most of my posts are usually about appreciating good character development and strengthening individuals first because when you do that, then everything else around you elevates. Something I always say to my clients is "When you invest in yourself, everyone around you benefits." And I fully believe it too. You'll automatically become a better version of yourself, which will make you a better friend, partner, co-worker, relative, etc....every role and relationship you have will elevate when you elevate yourself first

Gemma Rivera

Wait is Danny doing his horror movie watch party channel?!

Ayan

@Annie Willow I wish I could like Brittana, but I just couldn’t ever get over the crappy way Santana treated Brittany.

Mia

I agree, but I also think Finn was trying to hold onto Rachel because he had no other plans and he had found out the truth about his dad. Rachel was like his touchstone, the one thing he could count on, which doesn’t speak to anything good and long lasting when you’re 17/18. Neither of them were considering marriage for the right reasons.

Mia

Oh no that's not the reason at all! Mercedes is so beautiful!! I just genuinely don't feel that they have any chemistry, I don't feel a spark when they're together. That's all it is. Plus they want such different things from life and from relationships, hence why they broke up. Their relationship in season 5 annoyed me for a few reasons but mainly how she'd tell him off like he was child, how she didn't believe he was responsible enough to look after a dog and how she didn't want to have sex, which is totally fine, but she forced Sam to do the same instead of letting him go earlier which resulted in him cheating on her out of frustration. I just don't think they were ever made for each other. I understand that most people feel differently but this is how I feel. Plus I'm a massive Samchel shipper and I still believe they should've ended up together.

Siobhan Linehan

Happy anniversary! Love and commitment comes in all forms. If I’m not mistaken, Helen Mirren voices Becky’s inner monologue?

Matty

that makes sense

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

oh good! Ive been wanting more of Santana and Brittney together

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Right! I was totally screaming too!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Yea I think that was the best part of the episode

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

at least the songs were good

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

marriage proposals after being together 6 months, often means that youre trying to hang onto something t hat's falling apart

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

yea and a FAST wedding

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

wow 25 years! Good for you!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

yea TONS of money for a wedding!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Every point you made was incredibly insightful and I agree with you completely. When it comes to relationships neither party should be relying on the other to make them complete or that they could change the other to mold them into the perfect partner. The contrast between Finn and Rachel’s relationship and Santana and Brittany’s relationship is night and day in the way that they treat each other. Santana and Brittany are constantly building each other up as individuals, they never tried to change the other but accepted and loved every part of the other including their flaws. They wanted to put forth the best versions of themselves as individuals because of the support they gave each other and together they are even more amazing people than they were on their own.

Annie Willow

oh congrats! I'm thinking we'll probaby d the same around 14 years hahah!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I couldnt agree with you more about Will asking those very abrasive questions and then suddenly acting as if that never happened. The song choices were beautiful but ill suited as well. ...and yes please I would like violins at the ready for me at all times

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

So much for me to comment on in this episode. First of all, Santana as Rizzo during "Summer Nights" was amazing. I appreciate the sass that she brings to the show...which brings me to my second point...the introduction of Roz Washington! I love her character so much and forgot just how epic her intro was...she won a bronze damn Olympic medal in 2008 in Beijing, China for individual synchronized swimming?...the irony of that statement and how she delivered it was amazing. Nene Leakes was such a revelation on this show. Third, I love "The First Time I saw Your Face" and love the stripped down numbers like that throughout the show like "How Will I Know" which you already reviewed and may I suggest "Wide Awake" that's another amazing number focused on just the voices and harmonies. Fourth, I didn't like Will's 180 in this episode either. His questions were certainly valid for himself, but not after you've put a proposal in motion, it should have happened before he decided to propose. I have never liked his drive to fix Emma (he literally sang "Fix You" to her) or for her to fix herself. We fix things that are broken, but when it comes to people, I feel like we should encourage and inspire them to make changes that they want to and support them along the way. I don't believe people are broken but that we are always in this state between who we were and who we want to be (works in progress until the day we die). I don't like the underlying implication of brokenness in that kind of thinking since we are all living with challenges. Sorry about my rant, the therapist in me couldn't help but come through on that. This is why I have the unpopular preference of Emma with Carl rather than with Will because with Carl, she was more apt to letting go of the things that held her back and live life more. I too didn't like the song chosen for the proposal as it implied that he loved her in spite of him thinking the situation was hopeless, although I loved the way it was sung (especially Naya's adlibs) and can't imagine how much water got kicked into their faces that day, lol. One last thing before I get off my soapbox...as a marriage and family therapist, the best relationships I've seen are two individuals who are amazing in their own right and who choose to be together because they want to be and not because they feel lost or incomplete without someone else. If you feel as though you'd be lost or incomplete without someone, it comes from a place of deep insecurity and please work on that within yourself before trying to fill that with a relationship. I loved Rachel's performance of "Without You" but not what she was implying by putting all that pressure on Finn because she felt as though she wasn't going to get her dream of going to NYADA. And Audrey, you should talk to Santana about having violins and other stringed instruments at the ready for performances. She had those cello guys for "Smooth Criminal" and the violins for "Coldhearted" lol she's such a badass.

Gemma Rivera

Happy Anniversary! Me and my husband got married after 14 years together...we were high school lovers and always been together while going to university, living in 3 different countries... one day, he just proposed, and we got married. Now we've been married for 4 years and nothing has changed in our daily lives. But we had a great party :D

Martina Mendola

Pitch Perfect 3 seriously took their amazing bathing suits and made them into outfits!

Annie Willow

Happy Anniversary! My parents, similarly, spent a really long time together but not married. I was nine when they finally got together, and they were together many years prior to that. When they got married it was because they said "let's do something big this year" and their options were have another kid or get married. They ended up having a fairly small wedding, not overly expensive (did the baby thing the following year), and they're still married to this day and I just turned 26. I've been in my relationship for a bit but it's long distance. We met online and in two weeks I get to spend over a week with her in person for the first time, and I long to have a relationship that's as long lasting as yours, and my parents, regardless of marriage status. As for the episode, I don't have a TON to say except that I went on Amazon about a year ago and bought a replica of the bathing suit the girls were wearing in the end number and it's fabulous. I had loved it since the episode first aired and finally took the plunge.

Megan Christina

Happy Anniversary! I've been with my boyfriend for 17 years and we're in the same situation. We know we're in this for the long haul. I would like to get married some day but I'm also not interested in blowing tons of money on a big party when I would rather just be with him.

Drew Shepley

Congratulations on your anniversary!! I totally agree with you about that. My man and I have been together for 25 years now, and though we’ve talked a bit about marriage and I call him my husband and he calls me his wife we haven’t married. But I get a ton of pressure from my family about it. I just never felt like there was some rush or need to do it. We might at some point, but I’ve come to loathe the idea of spending a ton of money on a wedding, and I get not wanting to plan a huge event. We don’t need to prove to anyone how much we love each other, and I wish that as a society there wasn’t so much pressure about it.

Jennifer Adame

Congrats on the anniversary! Totally agree that the idea that marriage (and kids) have to happen, or have to happen on a timetable based on culture, can just put so much unnecessary stress on people. This show never seems to get that there's nothing wrong with people just being together. It's always aiming for a wedding, lol

Lauren

yayy now you can review i just can’t stop loving you without spoilers

fry

That was kind of the strange thing about Emma's college talk with Kurt and Rachel. I know they wanted to use their own fake school, but Kurt and Rachel could've applied to other performing arts schools in NYC as well like Tisch and AMDA, and then just chosen NYADA in the end. And it didn’t have to be a musical theatre specialty anyway, seeing as how plenty of people who majored in music or drama went onto to Broadway.

Mia

“The First Time I Saw Your Face” is my absolute favorite song from this episode. They were all so gentle and earnest and the flashbacks of each couple were just insanely adorable, especially Britt and Santana. Ugg I’ve watched that performance countless times and it still makes me all mushy. 🥰 Not exactly sure why Will thought Emma would appreciate him dripping public school pool water all over her but oh well. Also Jayma said that they were all freezing in the pool but she didn’t care because it was all for her 🤣 and we also got Naya and Lea singing together and Kevin yeeting himself into the pool that I can’t not laugh at so I’ll take it as a win. The whole time Finn was talking to Rachel and then proposing I was screaming that they were still in high school and they still had half the year left with no idea where they were going come June. Finn was still floundering and Rachel’s only plan was NYADA and on top of that, they had only been back together for like 6-7 months. Neither were mature enough to even consider that marriage is a legally binding contract and that there is no need to rush into such a giant decision.

Annie Willow

Personally season 3 isn’t one of my favs. It has its moments here and there, but honestly it made me hate most of the characters for how ooc they became, or the extreme nature of their character. I hated the idea of Rachel and Finn getting engaged. I just don’t see it necessary to tie yourself down at 17/18 when you’ve got your whole life ahead (obviously this was before everything that happened but also just my general thoughts). And it was clear, it wasn’t for the right reasons. They’ve just been back together for 6-7 months and now they’re ready for marriage when last year, Rachel could barely trust Finn’s feelings for her and Finn thought he was meant to be with his ex? Rachel and Finn wanted very different things from life, and I just don’t think it would’ve realistically worked out between them. I don’t like who she ends up with either. But like I said very ooc, at least for Rachel because she's always said no one will hold her back and here she is clinging to this relationship that has very little chance of surviving past high school. Honestly my whole problem is that none of them really have relationships with anyone outside of the club. It’s like they never really tried, and then when they do, there’s something shady about the character. Also why did no one have any safety schools? They all seemed to apply to a single school. It's just very weird.

Mia

I think the idea was that the pool is chlorinated, killing a lot (not all, but a lot) of germs and viruses that could be in it, and that kind of being a connecting factor to Emma's OCD.

Adam Lee

As with most of season 3, I don't really like this episode. Most people seem to LOVE season 3 but I've always been the weirdo and the odd one out with most things. I just can't stand the Sam and Mercedes thing, it goes on and off for most of the show and it never worked for me. I don't think they have any chemistry, I don't think their voices work well together and I don't like how she treats him in season 5. But you'll see that later lol. And also I find the part where Finn finds out about his dad chilling to watch considering that's EXACTLY how Cory passes away just a couple of years later. It makes me feel so uncomfortable. 🙈 But there are some positives. Rachel singing Without You is just STUNNING! You're right, it's the perfect song for Lea's voice. And I really thought Will's proposal was adorable. A lot of people don't like it but if someone did that for me I'd love it so... 🤷 Also the weird hats that Sue and Coach Beiste are wearing in Emma's song Wedding Bell Blues are replicas of the hats Princess Eugine and Princess Beatrice wore for William and Kate's wedding. They were really mocked for those hats at the time and this was Glee joining in on the joke basically. 😂 Oh and you said that the High School Musical watch party has been uploaded but it hasn't yet. I've been waiting for it lol. But yeah you haven't posted it. 💕

Siobhan Linehan

Happy Anniversary! I hope you two can find some time to do something really special together. Re: Glee, Finn and Rachel's engagement was so strange to me. I'm not really against them having been engaged in high school (I've known plenty of high school couples that wind up married happily shortly afterwards), but the thing I didn't get is why long engagements are such a taboo on this show. Everyone's like "let's get married ASAP" and "you're too young to get married" and I just sit here wondering why they can't get engaged now, and married after college or plan it for some time down the road after they've made sure it's what they want. This kind of thing happens *three times* over the course of the show and a simple "yes, but let's wait" attitude could have prevented SO many issues. Still, this is one of the better episodes of the season. Love the song choices and the pool scene looks so fun.

Adam Lee

I really enjoyed Becky's inner monologue I feel like they made her more humanized sort of speak like when people see her the only thing they see is the down syndrome they don't see that she's an actual human (I say they as in just in general not everyone) being really sweet episode. (Didn't like the marriage part but the Becky part was good)

Katie Kat

First off, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Danny! Second, this is my favorite episode of season 3! Without You is my favorite cover Glee ever did, it was sooo beautiful! That moment between Finn and Rachel is just perfect and beautiful, and Lea says the scene where she’s singing to him was the most nerve wracking thing she’d ever done up to that point, but the story is so bittersweet now. It really was a reflection of Cory’s life and knowing now that he was struggling with his addiction at this time, I have to wonder how he felt filming this. That proposal scene I remember screaming at the TV and saying noooo! Finchel is cute, but they weren’t ready. Then when it cut off…ugh it’s giving me flashbacks lol. Thanks for the reaction!

JustAlyssa87

Lots of great songs in this episode and in the next episode as well! You will see more of Santana and Brittany's relationship in the next episodes. As for mariage talk, I know that I want kids but I don't necessarily want to get married. I want to be with the father of my children but getting married is not a must. Just the thought of organizing one and all the money that can go into it gives me anxiety tbh lol.

Sabrina Louis

As someone who is germ-conscious, that pool scene creeps me out. How many germs are in that pool? And he was dripping wet, breathing hard, and probably spraying her as he talked. Ugh so gross. But also I loved "The first time ever I saw your face". They do so well with the 4 of them singing.

Haughtbreaker Nic

In regards to Sue telling Artie to stop wearing driving gloves: my best friend uses a wheelchair and when he had one where he had to push himself he also wore driving gloves cause pushing yourself around especially if you have to quickly stop would tear up his hands
