This is so funny because Rachel has this exact same problem she sent sunshine to a crack house but because she said some words of encouragement later it’s all good??? HUH. You sent a freshman girl who’s probably like 14 to a crack house be for real. And they want us to believe the two of them are somehow heroes which has always confused me how people view them in this show. Tbh it’s the reason why I didn’t care about Santana’s insults specifically for the two of them. They have savior complex’s. They are so arrogant highkey

This episode was so messed up. They made it seem like finn was going this amazingly sweet thing and it was all about him. Brittany did nothing to help HER girlfriend or tell them enough is enough. This was about santana and she would sing in front of them when she was ready. This was so forced and uncomfortable. Brittany could have sang privately to her. SOMETHING. It was always santana protecting/defending/standing up for Brittany but as her girlfriend, Brittany should have taken the reigns along with Santana. Such a missed opportunity.
The girls wanna have fun was almost offensive. You don't get to out somebody then some back and sing a song and think its all okay. It doesn't work like that.
Rant over. That episode just angers me 😭🤏💥🥴

I actually like what they did to Beiste at the shows end. Will have to wait and find out.😉

My main problems with this episode is that Finn acts like the straight Savior and Britney had like no part of this episode at all. Santana coming out wasn’t handled amazingly and this episode even got backlash for that when it first came out. Also Rachel sings and I kissed a girl because it’s glee and it’s Rachel. And while it’s obvious that glee isn’t known for its writing, I think the storyline with Santanas Abuela is actually done really well. It’s stretches all the way into the last season.

The reason I see them giving lead duet to Rachel is first of all it's Rachel, she would literally kill to sing in front of anyone. However, it's supposed to show how even though all of the girls fight constantly, they are still able to stick up for one another despite how petty they can be to each other. It's supposed to be a woman empowerment thing combined with they are all a family now so they can be as mean as they want to each other but won't let anyone outside of their glee family hurt them. Like siblings picking on each other but will fight the first person who picks on their sibling.

So I do know that Heather was going through some eating issues during this season and barely talked to anyone during that time. Heather and Naya both mention it during the Showmance podcast with Jenna and Kevin and Naya also mentions it in her book. Naya said that when Heather very quietly asked her for and peanut butter and jelly sandwich that she knew was reaching out for help.

This isn't a spoiler to any storylines but you'll see them be affectionate more now that it is pubicly known Santana is a lesbian before Santana and Brittany were privately hooking up and privately dating because Santana wasn't out yet.
Also if you pay attention to Santana and Brittany in the background of scenes you'll actually see that Naya and Heather actually were always interacting in the background of scenes. There are times where they were talking/whispering/joking with each other, holding hands, interlocking their pinkies, putting their heads on the other one's shoulder, looking at each other, etc. Naya and Heather played off each other so well because they were such good friends in real life so they were always doing things just as real life friends interacting and also knowing they were also playing best friends/a couple on the show.

I just still feel like Santana's relationship with Brittany isn't shown enough. Theyre safe in Glee Club so why aren't they more effectionate with eachother or at least feel like they are drawn together that way. Seems a little under played still for the script writer

The fact that Finn didn't acknowledge that he was in the wrong for outing her when he lied about the slap is wild to me. Yes, it's sad that Santana felt like she had to hide part of herself but that's her choice to make, not Finn's. And to have Santana be rude to the two people (Kurt and Blaine) who best understood her situation, but then hug Finn doesn't feel right to me. Finn always had that saviour complex going on.

Also the school violence policy is bull shit! Massive fights have broken out all over the school and they even get broken up by teachers but no one gets any sort of punishment or even warning. And then Santana give Finn a single well deserved slap and Figgins tries to suspend her. Mr. Schue was in the room when Sue and Burt showed Santana the commercial that was going to air as a direct result of Finn outing her in the hallway and he had the audacity to say that slap was unprovoked. Snixx let Finn get off way too easy in my opinion.

That was a weird choice to have Brittany sidelined. She must have done something wrong, you know how Jane Lynch said that you could tell when the producer was mad at someone by reading the script. I think she meant situations like this one.

I'm not very familiar with Spanish/Latina stuff, but I'm assuming that Santana's abuela (if that's how it's spelt) is her grandma. If so then that scene hits me hard. I'm bisexual but I haven't told my grandma and I don't think I ever will out of fear of this happening. She's a very religious lady and she's openly against the LGBT+ community so I know she wouldn't accept me. And it's the same story with my parents too. Two of my cousins are lesbians and my parents have been very vocally against it so I'll probably never tell them about me either. I'm not as strong as Santana, I can't face the idea of losing my family. Especially because I haven't got any friends like she has. 💕
As for the episode, it's another one that I don't really like. I've said this here before but season 3 has too many weird and creepy and strange and depressing storylines for my liking. It just gets worse as it goes along. 99% of people have it as their favourite season but it's honestly at the bottom for me. 🤷

Why on earth did they not include a conversation between Santana and Brittany?!? It’s not like she wasn’t just outed, also!! Britt would have been a pillar of support that Santana could have leaned on throughout this entire ordeal but no, they sidelined Britt and minimized her sexuality as bi-curious or bicorn.

Santana: "I talked to my parents last night and they were ok with it"
Brittany: "No way!"
I guess they hadn't talked and Brit just found out :V

Exactly! Cutting a scene where Santana comes out in an episode that’s supposed to be about her is ridiculous

I completely agree with every word. Naya is the only redeeming quality in the episode. I absolutely HATE that they cut Santana coming out to the Cheerios!! https://youtu.be/OpjZZx5F8JI

^ Yep! I don't hate the episode but it was extremely problematic.

I love Dot Marie Jones (Beiste) voice and this song, Jolene. So underrated. Hate what they did to her character in the end though. No spoilers.

I HATE this episode. Finn outed Santana in the last episode but he’s the “savior” in this episode 🙄 This is supposed to be Santana’s coming out episode and instead she’s sung at and she talks to her parents off screen. Brittany is her girlfriend and yet there’s not a single scene of them talking or Brittany singing to/with her. Brittany barely says anything this episode and Santana had to share on the songs she’s on; she doesn’t get a solo but the guy who outed her does and he gets his hero moment. It makes me so mad. Plus all the gawking at the girls when they performed (all of Rory’s faces) was in very poor taste in my opinion. Sapphic relationships aren’t for a man’s pleasure. The ONLY good part in this episode is Naya Rivera. Everything else can be burned especially the Shelby & Puck scenes 🤮 I wish Glee would’ve treated Santana’s storyline seriously and with the respect it deserved.

Agree that the "fighting for someone" or "fighting to get someone back" stuff is dumb. It is especially a bad idea for the adult characters. I can see why a teenager would find it romantic.

Another episode with a standout performance by Naya. Her attention to detail and all of the subtleties and nuances she brings to the character of Santana is mindblowing at times when watching these episodes again. Every facial expression in the background, and every inflection of her voice whether in dialogue or song builds an aspect of the character which enables us to see the development of the character throughout the series. Much sadness came up for me when thinking about how underappreciated she was as an actor and performer during glee's run.
I liked that perfect and constant craving fit the storyline for this episode really well and while Naya, Cory did well singing I Kissed a Girl and Girls Wanna Have Fun the songs just didn't fit the storyline well and took away some of the impact from the episode.
It has always bothered me how Mr. Schue did such a 180 from the last episode and defended Finn and reprimanded Santana by saying that she slapped him unprovoked when he was in the office with her when they broke the news about the ad.

Like episode 6 I have a love/hate relationship with this episode. For me the biggest highlights of both episodes are Naya Rivera's acting and performances for her character Santana.
Even though in this episode we find out Finn meant well because he could tell Santana was struggling to come to terms with her sexuality it will always bother me how the writers purposely had Finn out Santana. The writers definitely could've went about Finn helping Santana in a different way. Always thought a better scene/better scenes would've been seeing Finn privately helping Santana because he could clearly tell she was struggling. Also in retrospective it would've been great to see more one-on-one scenes with Cory and Naya because in real life they were really good friends but on the show Finn and Santana are more so shown to be friends because the cheerleaders and football players are friends as well as being friends because of Glee Club (but they aren't necessarily seen as being close friends) so Finn and Santana don't have a lot of one-on-one scenes.
Also even though this episode is about helping Santana come to terms with her sexuality I think what could've been shown is Santana and Brittany having a one-on-one scene or at least having a duet considering Brittany is Santana's girlfriend but she really only has a small role in this episode (she is essentially seen comforting Santana this whole episode/being a support system for Santana this whole episode but actually doesn't say much).
