Live watch party without talking?
Added 2022-08-27 03:52:48 +0000 UTCSo I’m in bed at the hospital and I can’t talk…but I can text.
I was thinking about going live on zoom with a Patreon Exclusive watch party. I can text chat the whole time but I won’t be able to talk out loud. I was think about maybe watching something from StarKid or perhaps a bootleg musical or an episode of the voice or an episode of Smash? Something that I don’t plan on doing on YT anytime soon.
Again, I won’t be able to talk with volume but I can chat in the side chat box with you while watching it.
Sound cool? Or would it be too weird?

2022-08-28 11:50:23 +0000 UTCI am well aware of the controversy around this movie and that is exactly why I chose to watch it and to make my own judgement about it. My 28 year old niece has Down Syndrome, and is Severely Autistic and Non-verbal. I decided to continue to watch it after the very first scene through to the end because Maddie embodied my niece Gabriella in her portrayal of a severely non-verbal autistic person in every nuance of her physically as well as emotionally. Autism is a Spectrum Disorder and I also personally have friends and family who fall within the Spectrum from the most severe as my niece to my friend who has Aspergers. I’ve also raised 2 daughters who have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder whose Disorders fall very differently along the Spectrum. Yes, Sia wrote this film for Maddie Ziegler who is her Muse. I’ve followed Maddie since her Dance Moms days and Maddie became her Muse as soon as she cast her in Chandelier. Sia also hired autistic dancers in the movie. I think, as a group, we do need to be sensitive, to the controversies surrounding the things we choose to watch but we also have to ask ourselves how much weight we give to these controversies. Should we not have Glee watch parties anymore because of the controversies surrounding Lea Michele and Mark Salling or that able-bodied Kevin McHale a played a disabled character?

2022-08-28 00:37:17 +0000 UTCPlease please please do not do the Sia movie! There has been a large out cry from the autistic community about harmful stereotypes and practices in that movie plus after the out cry Sia made some very not great comments about the autistic community that makes them feel like she just wants to make profit off of the community and actually doesn't support them
