2022-04-02 21:29:40 +0000 UTCI LOVED this reaction! The comparison with both movie versions was brilliant and I of course agree, Naya and Lea were also my favorite duet partners on the show. I think Naya was fantastic and Lea reminded me more of her Spring Awakening days. I feel like Glee boxed her voice into a corner sometimes. I am also glad this was the version you chose to watch, having the music play over the dialogue was distracting in the show and frankly would not have made sense for you yet lol. Season 3 is a favorite for me, aside from some questionable plot lines.

Also really liked the comparing of this version to the new and old West Side Story movies. This is an underrated Rachel and Santana duet and I think it is because the tv version is edited so this song is heard in the background for dialogue for 2 other characters.

I'm not a fan of her voice and her usual squeaks get on my nerves immediately, but here she sings softly and sounds good to me. I'm the case of Naya I love her voice no matter what she does with it. I love her tone, vibrato and dynamics. There's very little information about their singing choices, whether they have their own personal coaches or they're directed by Adam Anders, Glee's musical producer. I hope Gleek of the week finds him and interviews him.

2022-04-01 13:44:31 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you did this version and not the episode version, which was severely edited and interspersed with scenes from other characters. This, in my opinion is one of their more underrated duets because most people haven't heard the full song, just the episode version. Darren commented recently during the last Snixxmas event about how overlooked this song is and that he loves how Naya approached this song and that he could've seen how she might have eventually ended up on Broadway. Naya's versatility made her the best duet partner on the show because she could blend so well with whoever she was singing with. There's actually a video someone made about how well her voice goes with different cast members, which is amazing because they really isolated the vocals so you could hear her blending and her ability to adapt her vocals. https://youtu.be/lymlDMK-au8 Thanks for reacting to this and comparing all 3 versions!
