Dying Light: The Beast - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2025-09-28 10:04:29 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox, Playstation or PC HDR Calibration app settings.
Even if the game doesn't leverage system-level HDR Calibration, it offers one of the best HDR implementations ever made with accurate in-game HDR sliders in nits value (which can go up to 10.000 nits and actually show you the in-game changes you make in real-time, even cycling between day/morning and night scenes!), perfect black levels and great contrast with very well represented highlights.

If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
Set HDR Max Luminance slider to: 4.000 (nits)
> you're using HGIG:
Set HDR Max Luminance slider to: 800 (nits) or 1.000 (for G2/C4) or 1.500 (for G3/G4/C5) or 2.400 (for G5)
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
Set HDR Max Luminance slider to: 1.000 (nits)
> you're using HGIG:
Set HDR Max Luminance slider to the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits"
In all cases leave HDR Min Luminance, Scene Brightness and Shadows sliders to their Default values as they already offer a balanced PQ.
Set UI Brightness slider to 200 nits (to avoid image retention and burn-in on OLEDs)
BONUS:
On Consoles: use the "Performance" (60fps) graphics mode for best smoothness and input latency
Turn off Film Grain & Chromatic Aberration: for better picture clarity
Enjoy ;)

KCD2 only has an HDR On/Off toggle and it seems to use system level calibration, so there's nothing else to do if you want it
