Deep Tissue Acupunture

Today I had deep tissue acupuncture done on my throat and shoulders at the hospital. I’ve had acupuncture done before so I thought nothing of it, but I had no idea! This was really really really painful! They dig the needle into your spasming muscle wait a moment, and then dig it in further, and then twist it, and wait a moment, and then do it again. Each time it hurt more and more! Eventually I was crying so hard that they had to stop. They got 1/4 of the way done.

Soo… i’m now back home and required to lay in bed the rest of the day. Danny is out of town for the next week, so I’ve decided that I’m just going to watch glee on my own. I hope you guys are OK with that!

I just want to lay on the couch and watch some thing that makes me laugh. When I do a watch party, it feels like I’m watching it WITH you guys and not alone, which is really comforting right now ❤️❤️

I I’m glad you enjoy the watch parties as much as we do! I’m sorry you were in so much pain, and I hope you feel better soon. Time for Tea and Glee!

Yea I agree. It felt VERY traumatic and not the good kind of pain at all. I won’t be doing more of it…or at least not from that doctor. Today I don’t feel anymore relaxed on that side of my neck but I do feel a large lump where the needle was. I think I’ll stick to gentle stretching and I’ll just increase my time

Yikes! That sounds horrible. After the initial "omg" reaction, since it's in my medicinal wheelhouse, I feel a slight duty and desire to weigh in. I was a massage therapist/body worker for 18 years (stopped practicing when the pandemic started). I was trained in integrated massage and deep tissue therapy and NMT (neuromuscular therapy). I also trained in Thai massage. Since you are RIGHT THERE, after giving your body a bit of a break, I highly recommend receiving Thai massage—it's basically assisted yoga and will achieve all the benefits of that—lengthening and relaxing your muscles, creating more space for blood and lymph to flow which will help with nerve impingement. If you're still having muscle spasms—ice may help. I only know a little about acupuncture but from all my training & experience with massage you want to stay on the "good side" of pain (e.g. on a scale of 1–10, around a 7 or 8). You never want to go too deep, too fast, because it will trigger the opposite response you are looking for and your muscles will tighten in protection. Your body has already gone through a LOT of trauma. You definitely deserve a respite. If you were my client, I would not give you anymore "deep" work right now. Right now your body just needs soothing and time to process the trauma. It's out of my scope of practice to diagnose, but I'd recommend letting allopathic medicine take the lead and only integrate the most nurturing parts of holistic medicine. Be gentle with yourself. (Forrest Gump voice) "... and that's all I have to say about that" I hope you feel better soon! <3

Ouch! I hope you feel better soon! I enjoy the watch parties, it reminds me of when Glee was still on. I’m an OG gleek, went to both Glee Live tours, and used to have “Glee night” with my friends when it came on every week. Watching with you guys reminds me of that, it’s a good comfort show. Feel better soon!

Hope you feel better soon! Just to clarify, do you mean you will be watching Glee on your own to lift your spirits and that you won't film reactions - or that you will be reacting to it on your own without Danny, but will still be posting videos? Either way, I totally get it and the most important thing is that you feel better.
