The Last of Us: Part II Remastered - HDR Optimized Settings

The game is NOT using/applying Playstation or PC HDR Calibration app settings.

Differently than TLOU: Part II base game, this Remastered have a different (but disappointing) HDR implementation, even if offering the same in-game HDR sliders.

The game is in fact locked to a 10.000 nits peak HDR Luminance target but it will usually average around 2.000 nits peak in-game.

If you try to change in-game Brightness and Contrast sliders you would only ruin the exposure and contrast of the game, which are already balanced at their default values.

So, leave both Contrast and Brightness sliders to their Default values.

You can lower HUD Brightness to a more comfortable level if you prefer (like a middle value 3)

For this game, even if you can't control Peak HDR Luminance, I also found HGIG works better for night/dark scenes (but the new DTM in HDR FMM on LG 2023+ OLEDs also works well)

BONUS:

Enjoy :)

There is the option on the PC version, strange

Can’t find the chromatic aberration setting on PS5 version; where should I be looking?

Rhys Church

I did test it after patches and it's still oversharpened with upscale sharpness set to anything higher than 0 when using DLSS. If you use the Sharpness mod you can use in-game sharpness to 3.

P40L0

For PC version: set upscale Sharpness to 0 if you use DLSS as by default the game is very oversharpened with it. Hello, there are patches out for pc, I think it is not relevant anymore, I think there is no such sharpness now, can you check please and what to set in this case? Thanks

Евгений Макаренко

Its in "Automatic". The other option to choice is "off". How can set 120hz beyond this options?

Marco Gorgar

You have to set PS5 at 120hz first

Hey P4olo! PLz dude, i have a LG 55C3. How could i use VRR fidelity mode to play in 40 fps? IN options, i just can find performance and fidelity mode, nothing says about VRR/40 fps. Thanx!

Marco Gorgar

Thanks very much 😊

Brian Sawyer

No, very minimal improvement to color banding and texts clarity, but absolutely not worth it if you also watch movies from that device (as it will kill ALLM and most Clarity options)

P40L0

Thanks for explaining. Going to PC mode worth the trouble? Any significant change? Thanks

Brian Sawyer

Some visible color banding is inevitable in some games/situations. It just depends by how good the devs are at masking it with less steep color gradients and/or backgrounds + grain etc. You can also try to minimize it using PC Mode/HDMI Icon but only if you don't also watch movies from that device (and also keep in mind you have to re-enter all your settings for that input after the HDMI icon change to PC)

25/25/0 with DTM on

Brian Sawyer

Hello I have LG C2 and I followed your advice on LG OLED settings and PS5 HDR settings. I’m seeing the colours banding on the title screen and in game when the blizzard hits, can see some of the colours banding in the distance (foggy). Is it the game or the tv?

Brian Sawyer

It depends. If you notice too much blown out highlights or a dim picture overall with HGIG, yes, you should enable it.

P40L0

Is it recommended to enable dynamic tone mapping? I have a Bravia X90L, I know its not an oled but it has 1225 nits.

Blanche

That's disappointing
