Forza Horizon 5 - HDR Optimized Settings
Added 2022-03-17 09:18:38 +0000 UTC
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox HDR Calibration app settings.
FH5 has one of the best HDR implementations and it's one of the few games actually leveraging system-wide HDR settings.
After latest patch verify the following in-game setting:
- Adjust Brightness: Leave it at 300 (Default)
- Adjust Saturation: Leave it at 100 (Default)
For the best and most balanced HDR rendition.
UPDATE:
On PC version you will also have a dedicated Peak HDR Brightness slider which should automatically apply Windows 11 HDR Calibration value, but if won't:
If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set Peak HDR Brightness slider to: 4.000 (nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set Peak HDR Brightness slider to: 800 (nits) or 1.000 (for G2) or 1.500 (for G3).
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Leave Peak HDR Brightness slider to: 1.000 (nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set Peak HDR Brightness slider to the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits".
Comments
Yeah, defaults are already the best. Just change Peak Luminance according to your TV and the mode you're using (DTM or HGIG)

2024-04-23 18:55:46 +0000 UTCDo you still suggest 300 Brightness and 100 Saturation now that the Peak Brighness is also requested? I just upgraded from a C1 to a G4. The game seems slightly washed out now. Maybe just uping the saturation would help

2024-04-23 18:27:20 +0000 UTCAfter latest patches, the default Brightness 300 is literally perfect now (when everything else on Xbox/PC and the TV is properly setup)

2023-09-04 07:56:40 +0000 UTCI initially found the game a bit too dim with HGIG the first time and 360 helped in bringing back a bit more "HDR pop", but I need to re-test this after all these patches.

2023-03-31 09:57:44 +0000 UTCHi. . I use brightness 210. 360 seems to lose dynamic range. Why 360 Brightness? Can you explain?
