(PLEASE READ) Cleaning House as We Move into the New Year

As you may know from previous blog posts, this year was a bit chaotic for Fascination Uniformed. Which is not me, I am myself, Fascination Uniformed is more like a non-official publishing house name. Which should give you a little indication about what long-term plans I've got for this whole thing. But I digress.

I've wanted to do a whole "year in review" post but... my archive is kind of a mess. I do not organise my art by year, but rather by subject matter which while effective, it means I sometimes forget what I filed one drawing under and it gets all weird. But, even with these disruptions, I've produced quite a lot of content. The Patreon is growing, somewhat, and things are looking good.

So, as we move onto 2023, let's clean house a little.

1. Unclaimed Sketch and Chibi Commissions

Quite honestly, I never quite expected these many people to join these Tiers and my plan early this year was to slide these into a different Tier but that never quite happened. For now, I've had to limit the number of Sketch Commissions to 9, after which I'll limited them further.

Right now, if you're one of the people I owe any Commissions to, please get in touch with me via Messages with all of your requests in one go. References and ideas too, please. I would prefer if you were to combine your sketches to a.) get a "more finished drawing", or b.) requested a transformation sequence.

You have until the 10th of January 2023 to notify me of your sketches before I have to, sadly, move on with other projects.

2. Changing the Patreon Tiers

This is not happening yet, and probably won't go into effect until February.

At the moment, I do not forsee the current state of the Patreon tiers to fit nicely with my new work commitments (I got a contract to draw a comic book!) and other things I want to do this year. As such, I am spending some time this week to think about what the Tiers could be. I will most likely mothball some of the Tiers, and roll them all into no more than four Tiers.

I will also be launching a Kofi and Subscribestar alternatives. Still working on those.

Here's some ideas, and I would love for you to give me your thoughts.

a.) £1 Patreons will get early access to short stories and Sketches Only, the ability to Vote on character pin-up polls, and be able to join the Discord (once I sort it out proper)

b.) £3.50 Patreons will get early access to stories, sketches, and finished pin-ups and other illustrations, as well as any "short form" comic I may make. You will be able to Vote on any polls, and be able to join the Discord.

c.) I am removing the £6 Sketch Tier and the Chibi Commissions. They are proving to be more of a liability and a source of stress. I will instead increase the price of this, somewhere around the £7 mark. I may instead turn this into a "Submit your requests and the winning one gets drawn", but this may me unfair on everyone else. With this one I may need to hear your thoughts rather than mine, so please, please, please comment below.

3. Pin-up Polls will be coming back

As it says on the Tin. So... yeah.

And like that, Merry New Year and Happy Hrumbugmas.

Comments

On other Patreons that use a most votes gets drawn approach, it pretty regularly goes to the same flavor of the month idea seen everywhere else and I lose interest / incentive pretty fast. I understand the need to balance your work-load and I'd suggest limiting the number of slots that get personalized art if that's too much.
