I found some photos from the 25th anniversary celebration of the BMW 8 Series, which took place in 2014 at the company headquarters and at the factory in Dingolfing (Germany). I owned such a car at the time and was involved in the official 8 Series owners club, which co-organized the event.
A real treat was the red BMW M8 prototype, specially exhibited for us. Several dozen BMW 8 cars from all over Europe came to the event. A great event with a wonderful atmosphere...
It wasn't without adventures. At one point, the small additional coolant pump in my car, which serves the interior heating system, gave out. A cloud of steam, a leak, the car overheated and the end of the trip. Fortunately, I found the number of a mobile BMW service in the materials from the organizers. After about half an hour, the serviceman arrived. He looked, thought for a while, realized what was going on, quickly removed the pump and made a temporary bypass so that the trip could continue. He poured in hectoliters of coolant, bleeding the entire system and that was it.
I've never seen a mechanic so happy. He said he finally had the chance to work on a real car with a real problem, and not just jump-start cars with dead batteries :)
Then he started writing a bill. Okay, the drive to the incident - hmm, I was actually nearby, so zero Euro. The repair - that was fun, so... let's say zero Euro. I thought he was joking, but it was true - zero Euro...
