Review - "REBEL MOON - PART I: A CHILD OF FIRE" (2023)
Added 2023-12-20 21:56:00 +0000 UTCZack Snyder's retools his would've-been "STAR WARS" movie into... basically a Mountain Dew-flavored, early-2000s XBox-tinged riff on "STAR WARS" for Netflix to throw against the wall and see if it sticks. Not a bad idea on paper, but in practice the end result is a shockingly dull and portentous affair - all setup with very little in the way of punchline as Snyder chops his "SEVEN SAMURAI" homage in two; saving the main action apparently for the sequel and leaving this one as little more than a series of character introductions and unfinished backstory-explanations. Dumb and derivative are forgivable in this kind of movie... boring much less so.

You're right. This should have been an easy hit. A soft pitch right over the plate. Yet it couldn't even manage that much. Zach needs to get away from the epics and find something short, compact to take on.
