Hiro and Pike

So, for those of you who ain't in the know, I recently got and played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue. Beyond the well written dialogue, the wonderful storyline of the Fugitive arc, etc etc etc, I found myself sort of roleplaying a character who had no memory and was forced directly into work instead of using the time they had to regain who they were. 

I wasn't particularly satisfied with the conclusion of the Fugitive arc based on that approach, so I decided to extend it. 

Hiro (the Mudkip) was 15 when he woke up as a Pokemon, but he'd never know that until later. After the events of the Fugitive arc, he journeyed back North to find Ninetails again. He wanted to find out who he was before so that he could be more like whoever that was. He thought that reclaiming his old identity would narrate who he was now. 

Having made it, Ninetails revealed to him who he was before. A snobby, stuck up kid with no regard for people around him. No selflessness. No altruism. Hiro brewed on this through all his journey home to his partner, Pike (the Cubone). He finally decided that who he was before didn't matter now, because who now was someone who cared and helped.  He spent the next few years rediscovering himself, winding himself slowly to a thrill-seeking, adventurous vegetarian man, demisexual, and very in love with his partner and boyfriend, Pike. 

Pike the Cubone was supportive through all this, but there was an undying air that whatever happened to Hiro might happen again. Pike was tormented more every day about the idea of waking up to Hiro not even recognizing him, so he went to Alakazam to help him figure things out. Though no solution was given, Pike slowly realized that the Hiro he knew now was the best version of Hiro, and that something that powerful would follow him back, even if he lost his memories again. Alakazam placed barriers in Hiro's mind that would protect him from losing everything. 

The two would grow from every passing day together, even taking to marrying each other, living as happily as they could in their line of work.
