Patreon Sketch 05 - Zed Tiger

Sketch Tier commission for Zed Tiger!  It took me a while to get the beach ball to work, b/c it made her look preggers in earlier attempts. Solution: shrink it! X3

Highres and PSD files will be available as part of this month's patreon rewards, depending on your reward tier!

valid points, valid points anthropomorphitarian? to be pregnant at all Night would have to either use a sperm bank, which is totally out of character for her, the only way this would remotely happen would be as an accident, or be impregnated by a similar species, either as part of a threesome with pat or a side romp, in either case bringing up issues regarding raising a child that isn't his, and the biological father's involvement I love this head canon of Night and Pat, even if Night getting pregnant was highly unlikely to ever actually occur, but as of right now I can't think of any way to make Pat and Night able to breed together given the details of the universe you've created as discussed/revealed/decided during this discussion It's still going to simmer in the back of my brain, my head's not going to let this idea slip away so easily

Hm, I don't know if you can get two different species' reproductive cells to conceive in a lab. I know there was a story about a German scientist mixing human and rabbit reproductive cells and it started to grow, and he terminated it. Chimeras are something that we may see in our lifetimes. But I can't imagine seeing a giraffe/jackal mix running around, or something. It would over complicate the story, in my mind. Plus, I think populace would protest it in the Londonersverse, as they would consider it something akin to eugenics. Basically a 'we made it this far, why start mixing us up now?' Anthrotarian probably wouldn't work either, since anthropomorphism meanings giving human traits to non-human things. Ultimately it all comes back to humans. Lol, Night starts bitching at Pat at 2 am. 'Go to the store and get me a jar of pickles and some ice cream!' 'Which flavour sweetie?' 'CHOCOLATE OF COURSE!!!'

1. genetics the same as our world is a realistic way to think about it .... 2. I would like to raise the point that in our world, many species wouldn't even try to mate with others unlike them, especially in the size difference case between a giraffe and a jackal, which is essentially mitigated in this universe ... meaning we technically have no data regarding the the viability of jackal/giraffe offspring as it's not a question anyone in this world has asked themselves seriously until this conversation .... 3. We could consider it in light of levels of fertility, in that dog or cat species are extremely fertile with another of similar species, but two fairly different species have extremely reduced chances of conception, but not impossible, especially considering fertility treatments and invitro procedures .... 4. theoretically, pandas should be able to breed with other members of the bear family .... 5. I'd probably go with 'anthrotarian' .... 6. I just have this picture in my head of a terrified at the prospect Nightshade telling Pat that she's pregnant, while he's all ecstatic, and then this adorable picture of her with a belly as she comes around to the idea, and of course, the violent mood swings would fit her character perfectly ....

Unless someone convinces me otherwise, my current thinking on the genetics is that it's the same as our world. As in, a giraffe can breed with a giraffe, but not a jackal. A wolf and a dog could breed and have a mixed offspring. A horse and donkey could breed and have a sterile mule. Diamond, for instance, could have unprotected sex with a horse guy and produce a Zorse, but I don't intend for that to happen :P This results in a world where there are dozens of species of mammals, and some are heartier than others when it comes to birth rates. Some are very common: dogs and cats are everywhere. Their specific breeds are based on old family lines, sometimes descended from royal families that inbred for specific traits (similar to our own world). Others are on the verge of extinction. For instance, pandas exist in their universe, and like in ours, their numbers are low. Situations like this have created a 'humanitarian' (not sure what the anthro equivalent would be) crisis where some suggest mandatory breeding programs to keep those species alive, while others suggest letting nature take its course and allow those species to die out. It's a very hotly-contested topic for their world.

1. While we've seen no evidence of mixed species individuals as of yet, the canon cast of characters is fairly limited in terms of sheer numbers as it currently stands .... 2. Most likely, like attracts like, resulting in a majority of same species pairings and thus children .... 3. there is always the possibility that genetics in this universe are an all or nothing proposition wherein mixed couple offspring are on an individual basis genetically like one or the other of their parents, not a combination .... 4. given the sheer amount of unprotected copulation inherent in this universe, I'm going to assume that the females are religious about contraception pills rather than that breeding is only possible between two members of the same species

DresdenQ

I guess since her boyfriend is a giraffe, there is no need to worry about the children stuff.

Pavel

Handling big balls sure puts a smile on her face, no?

Xaq

I think she doesn't really know how to act around them, so she generally runs the other way X3

Kadath

I might have missed this somewhere along the line or maybe not, but what are Nightshade's thoughts on having children?

DresdenQ

Wonderful;3
