Got the part!
Added 2019-04-26 05:29:01 +0000 UTCInstalled without a hitch, mostly. While installing one of the RAM sticks, one of the clips that hold them in broke off and I nearly had a heart attack, but it turns out the clip was from one of the unused slots on my board and that almost a decade of sitting there had begun to turn it brittle... I guess.
Anyway, it's pretty much guaranteed I'd never use the extra slots anyway, so it's not really much of a loss.
Installation aside, my computer's running fine so far, but I have yet to really overdo the RAM usage yet. I'm currently working on a project that will require a lot of memory, though, so that will be the big trial by fire that I need.
Thank you for funding this upgrade. After this, I'm pretty sure it'll just be a lot of saving up to keep an emergency repair cushion and eventually swap out my motherboard for something newer so I can use modern tech. Low priority, though. Main focus right now (in terms of the budget and such) is to build it back up, just in case my computer explodes in a fireball.
