2021-02-05 19:16:41 +0000 UTCPretty awesome!! If the corsets were laced differently you’d have an easier time getting in and tying them up yourself. Women wore corsets for boobage support (no painful bra straps since the weight is distributed across the torso), and most women had to put them on themselves. If it’s laced symmetrically (top reflects the bottom) you can grab the loops that form in the middle, wrap it around your middle, and tie a bow in the front. Tight-lacing was rare, but frequently commented on in newspaper articles and cartoons by men, waxing on and on about the ridiculous nature of women. So, yeah, it’s supposed to feel like someone is giving you a firm hug but no more tighter than that.

2021-02-03 13:39:26 +0000 UTCMeanwhile, over here in the U.K. and we’re still in lockdown..... husband can’t go out to the pub so I don’t get to watch Bridgerton 😂. Try Guys video certainly helps ease the pain 👍🏼

2021-02-02 22:58:10 +0000 UTCI very desperately want Bernadette Banner to watch this video. She's a dress historian that especially focuses on the late Victorian/ early Edwardian era, but she's super knowledgeable about 19th century fashion as a whole, and I'd definitely recommend her if you want to learn more about historical fashion!
