TryPod: Episode 1: We Started A Podcast

Holy cannoli, Batman! The Try Guys are launching a podcast! Well... almost. This is our first test episode and we're offering it to YOU as a Patreon exclusive.

We're starting The TryPod as a way to share stories from our increasingly bizarre lives, let you in on behind-the-scenes fun, and ultimately find more ways to connect with you and let you into our world.

So in the coming weeks, look out for a few more test episodes as we continue to tinker and see how we feel about it, work out all the kinks. First, Patreon. Soon, the whole world 😎

As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please enjoy and let us know what you'd like to hear more of!

TryPod: Episode 1: We Started A Podcast

Comments

Thomas Sanders is such a sweet and delightful person I'm not at all surprised he flew out to the Streamys just to get punched in the face. 🤣❤️

Kate McDonell

I love the behind the scenes of the streamys :)

Brianna Keogan

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can't say it enough :) It's cool they do this, but it's sad missing out, so thank you!

Myrriadne

I'm so happy there's a podcast! I practically live in my car, so having the option of listening to you guys is wonderful!

Lauren Mae Nikkel

Oh this just makes me happy. Please continue.

ThisLibrarian

I loved the overlapping chatter, interrupting and derailing.

MissyMayaS

I loved it! I like to hear the behind the scenes stuff. Plus your guys back and forth is so lovable.

MissyMayaS

Would love to see the video of this podcast if that’s possible.

Jessica Curtis

This was great you guys! Listening to what goes down in a performance and how you guys felt about it was really interesting. Also, your little stories spread throughout that weren't related to the Streamys was really enjoyable as well! Only advice would be to avoid talking over each other, but since the podcast format so far is that of a natural conversation, I understand why that it happened. It does make everything sound very natural, which is what you should always be aiming for. You guys got me to laugh from just the few minutes because of its chaos, so please keep that in mind. Just like ones of your PAs said in an AMA, it's more fun and authentic if things are less polished :) Also, Zach is somehow the best and worst person for a podcast, for the same reason- he talks a lot! Hahahahaha Even so, all of you were a delight!

Riane Sontillano

My favorite part was definitely getting the behind the scenes planning/logistics of shoots and performances.

Claire Simons

I've been wanting you guys to do a podcast forever!

Katie Derico

More TryPods! It's nice to have something Try Guys to listen to while driving, since watching videos while driving is frowned on.

Susan A

LOVED IT!!!

Pam Smiley

Gosh~~ why it ended so fast? I need more TryPods. *NSFW though, unless you're fine with smiling like a fool in your office. :P

Michelle Lew

I posted this on the discord, but forgot to put it here. Several of us over on discord created a transcript of this episode of the TryPod! If there is anything you'd like us to do better for upcoming episodes, please let us know. Serpent_moon

More please! More TryPods.

Isabella A.

I loved being able to listen while I'm working. I hope you do it weekly!!!!

Julie

Really like the Podcast audio. Great conversations. Personally i would like a video of the podcast but that is just me.

Art Ink

I am ecstatic that you have decided to do podcast! So much so that i joined today to listen to this! The unscripted, conversation format is perfect! Pls keep doing that. These are all great for existing fans. However, if you want to attract new listeners that you can potentially turn into new fans for the rest of the media, maybe also consider doing riffs on random topics while still sharing funny stories & behind the scenes?

Dyson v Roku

This was really good. I liked the insights and critique about planning and executing shoots and performances the most. My only critique is being mindful of overlapping chatter, interrupting, and derailing. When there's 4 people it's so easy to get lost in the weeds or cut each other off. Terrific first outing though! Congrats on the Steamies, the dope Halloween costumes, and the sweet upcoming consultations with Montel Jordan and Charo! :)

CRS

Thanks so much for this! It was just as enjoyable as your videos! Hope to hear more soon!

Heather Browne

You're actually right though, I don't even know who Poppy is but I had a moment of, "What..." but because it was Zach, I just shrugged it off lol. I have since seen the red carpet videos and looked into who she is and what she does, but when I was watching the stream I had no idea but if she had came out with the gimps rather than Zach I would have been slightly disturbed.

Victoria

I love this! Can't wait for more!!!

Laura P Froggatt

I love the idea of using a podcast to share some of your ideas that didn't quite make the cut (like the mean Streamys jokes)! I loved this, hope there are more episodes in the future!

Arden

I think the movie you're referencing is Picture Perfect with Jennifer Aniston

Kelly Hill

The BTS was the best part. It sounds like you guys said you had a camera set up as well...that would be fun to watch the podcast not just hear it.

Swayze

I really enjoyed that. It was informative and intimate. Good job, Guys!

Teralyn Wade

This was interesting. Ever heard of Specterman? Not sure if Eugene wants another Asian character idea and it's like a lone Power Ranger.

RBMH

Love it! Maybe you could each have a segment tailored to your own personalities where you take lead of the conversation. Ex: I've seen something similar to this in the comments, but... Eugene picking a topic in pop culture, Ned's update on fatherhood, etc.

Christine H

2 minutes in and I like this even better than your recent videos. It has a little more depth and reflecting on your Try experiences. Great job!

Avia Lewis

:3 I love this <3

Florence Aquilina

I really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes aspect to it, talking about your motivations and feelings about different events/videos, something we wouldn’t get from watching the videos or twitter feed. The easygoing dynamic between you guys is the golden part of it. I like the atmosphere that I’m listening to a funny conversation between friends, hanging out and just chilling.

Zoe Kay

loved this! keep up the great work <3

Kenna

Loved it! I like the unscripted nature. That format is easier to listen to while at work - if I zone out for a few minutes then I can tune back into the next conversation that you four start. Of course, having every few podcasts be focused on one topic would be good for leisure listening. Thank you for being your best, magnificent selves!

Jessica Bourdon

Awesome! Will you make it available on Stitcher?

Lee

Cool! Fun first episode! Looking forward to more. Love the behind the scenes insight and info. It's cool Keith had a ball pit in his dorm room. In a related note, for my wedding, I decided that I would rather have a ball pit than flowers, so we spent flower money on buying 3,500 ball pit balls and constructing a 5x5 pit. :) (and no, I didn't get married young, this was when I was 36. ;) )

Jennifer Bak

Heck yeah! love this

Elizabeth Pawul

I love it. Great way to start off my morning.

PoeticDeath03

I haven’t even finished this but I love it

Katherine Roullier

Can we get stories that have been hinted at before? Stuff that any of you have said with a sly smirk or guffaw and not elaborated on. Maybe some heavy topics if you feel comfortable enough with doing, even mental health. Tangent: Eugene, when you shared in a video that your mom left your family I felt my chest seize. My mom is Korean, manic depressive, and we’re still not good with communicating in a healthy way. Instead she used to threaten to leave me and my siblings at least once a month and each time it was traumatizing. Sometimes we convinced her to come back into the house, but sometimes she’d leave and go for a long drive or stay somewhere for the night or be gone for a day and as the oldest I’d try to take care of my siblings. She also would scold us like any parent would but then it would spiral into her jumping between tearing herself down, blaming us, blaming herself, saying we’d be better off without her, and tearing us down. I’m not sure how much of it was Asian parenting™️, how much of it was depression, and how much of it was normal parental self-doubt, but it definitely affected my decision to put off having children and affected my past relationships. It drove me to become more self-dependent than I would have been otherwise. I’m not asking you to share anything, but wanted to let you know for some reason. I’ve never seen someone who I could relate to when it comes to this and it felt like...relief? I rarely go back home for the holidays because she still gaslights and sometimes my brother and I would wait until she fell asleep to discuss our mental health so we’d feel grounded again. It’s not fair, not normal, but not something we can talk openly about either. Thank you for helping me feel less alone in this.

Jacquelyn Yun

I loved all the behind the scenes stuff! Hell, I enjoyed your banter as always! Mooooaar!

Janni Kouring Stensgaard

I love this. I love listening to things in the background while I work on other projects, and listening to you guys chat was so relaxing and intimate. Love all the behind-the-scenes stories and random factoids about yourselves and your lives. I will most definitely tune in to more of these! <3

Christine Adriana -- Nurse Joy

There was a ton of new information in here that hasn't been in videos. Unless I missed the video about Eugene detailing how and why he chooses his Halloween costumes, Keith making a girl cry on a first date, how Montell Jordan wants the Try Guys to help him and his wife reinvent themselves on the internet, and how future plans may involve hanging out with Charo eating paella. 😂

Christine Adriana -- Nurse Joy

Enjoyed the first (of hopefully many) trypod episodes! Thank you for sharing your lives with us.

Tif

This is great! Stay beautiful.

Naomi Kulow

Love the relaxed vibe and hearing behind-the-scenes tidbits! I'd definitely put this podcast in my regular rotation.

Joanna Clark

I like podcasts; they're nice to listen to when doing chores. Personally, I prefer a cast of one or two and when there's a clear theme to the episode. I also like when there is an end segment featuring a letter/email/comment/whatever from listeners. So far the TryPod feels like its catering to its fans and giving us some of that sweet tea - not sure how this will reach out to new fans tho. Either way, I'll be listening for at least a few more episodes.

Joemama Sofat

loved the podcast! It'd be cool to get podcasts from each of the tryguys too! I could totally see Keith do an ASMR podcast, or Zach with a motivational one, Ned could easily do one about the journey of fatherhood and parenting, and Eugene could do one on social media culture... These are just a few examples but I'd love to see more content that centers around each try guy along with the group content.

Nicole Garanzini

Love it. I like the more unscripted conversation, and it's perfect for listening to while doing work. I don't think it needs any more sound effects. Or even an intro. I am waiting for the inevitable Squarespace/Mailchimp/Cashapp/Ziprecruiter/Indochino ads though ...

Too Old

Love it!

Kaycee Bowen

Love this!!! I like listening to stuff while I'm working, and with a podcast I wouldn't be missing out on the visuals (since I probably shouldn't be openly YouTubing in the office).

Karo Siu

So fun to hear the behind-the-scenes of how you do what you do! (If you have the time and energy) keep it up! :)

Julia Triezenberg

Really enjoyed the podcast, especially hearing the behind the scenes of the DUI series! I am looking forward to more episodes. I’ll just add, as someone who is probably on the lower end of the “internet of things” spectrum (I don’t tweet, have never seen a Vine, and steer clear of most things Trending on YT); know that your audience may not have heard of some of the people/shows that you mention. Or maybe I’m old. That’s probably it.

Dani G

Finished listening and it was awesome!

Dani

Love it!! I'd listen to this for sure!

Catie Powell

I haven’t even listened yet but I’ve been thinking for weeks that it’s something I would like from you guys!

Isaac Howell

I love this. I'd recommend people actually listen to it before deciding it isn't funny - there was a lot of really awesome behind-the-scenes facts and stories that aren't in any other videos. I'm glad there was an explanation for Zach being Poppy's dog at the Streamys, for example. You guys have excellent chemistry and it works just as well in podcast form. This is a fun way to switch things up and provide more laid-back, unscripted content. This felt like chilling in a circle with you guys on a random Saturday afternoon. I guess people who, for some reason, "need to see you" to find you funny can just skip it and let the rest of us enjoy it, because I thought this was hilarious and fun. Looking forward to more!

Steph Allen

I most likely would not listen to this. I need to SEE you all. I don’t think listening would be as funny, because your videos are so good, and most of what you do has a visual appeal. Besides, in the few minutes I tried, you talked about things I’d already seen in the videos, so is this meant for those who don’t watch? I listen to a lot of different podcasts, but not as a replacement for the visual.

SJ

night in/night out is coming back! I'M SO HAPPY!

Amanda Cohen

This was great-I love this mostly unscripted work from you guys :)

Izzie Estell

You know, I wasn't sure I would like the Try Guys in my ears, but now that I've tried it, I love it! In fact, I feel like this opens up a whole new avenue of Try Guys branded merchandising! Experience your favorite boys with all of your senses. Try Guys cologne, Try Guys branded dumplings... you can have a Try Guy in every orifice! Put the guys in all of your holes! EDIT: okay, so there is probably a better way to phrase that, but you get the idea.

Steven Z Carroll

Yep, I am 300% down with the TryPod. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!!

Paige Janzen

Thomas Sanders IS AWESOME! In fact, you two channels are my favourites on YouTube by a serious long shot.

Jordan Harper

Could you guys put this in the Patreon RSS so we can download it in our podcatcher of choice?

Abrahm Simons

This is so exciting! Was literally just thinking the other day how I wish you guys had a podcast. Going to check it out today!

K C

This was so much fun to listen to. Thanks guys!! A++ would listen again.

Vaisey Harlequin

Dude this is so dope, it's like having a conversation. So excited to see where y'all take this.

Olivia Melvin

This was awesome. I finally have something I can listen to in my car when i don't feel like loud music.

Cato Oomen

I LOVE THIS!! MORE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Isabella A.

I loved it! I like hearing behind the scenes stuff, nice going!

Annelies Åström-Driessen

I really liked this!! Great job!

Amy Kreeger

Absolutely love this and will listen every week! I liked the little behind the scenes stories about what shoot days were actually like, or the after party at the streams but also, loved the personal life antidotes like Keith told about the the girl from college and the ball pit in his college dorm room. Keep up the great work, yall!

Mallory Ashwander

Love the podcast! Hope you'll do like the old radio shows; sound effects, maybe some fake commercial ads.

Barbara B

Yessssss. Try guys 24/7. All try guys. All the time

Caitlin Gust

THIS IS AMAZING! I’ve been looking for a podcast that I can listen to during off time and this is PERFECT! Love you guys, thank you for working so hard for us

Bianka Bercier

i love this! i've always really enjoyed podcasts so seeing one from y'all is that much better. as others have been saying, a video version would be great, but not having one wouldn't prevent me from listening or anything, it's still a fantastic podcast.

emilyanny

I'm dying. This is a great idea! Please, do this all the time. I will increase my subscription if this becomes a regular thing.

Sara Fischer

I already like how the conversation kind of flows between you and I'm sure you guys are already taking this into consideration, but don't feel like you need to rush the intro/sign off. It allows people who aren't used to your voices to pick out who's who.

Rei

I literally just got the pun 😂. The option to watch would be cool but it's not a deal breaker. Looking forward to the next one!

Brittany-Marie

I love this and I can't wait for more episodes. But HOW do you guys have the time to produce all of this content!? You're amazing.

Michelle Stetson

THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING WOOOO

Evie Potts

so excited for this!

Aimee MacPhail

Can’t wait to listen to this!

Adrianna

I already love the name lol

Dani

Yeah, I totally agree. If we want to just listen to it we can but if we want a video as well we got that too.

Emily Kusec-Ashcroft

Very cool! Will listen later on when I'm out of work!

Marie Billiel

omg

HeleenNL

This may be the perfect solution for my daily commute! Can't wait to hear more!

Rit

So exciting! ^_^

Caz Galloway

Yes, this is a brilliant idea! 😍

Sarah Gorman

Maybe do a video podcast so we can watch y'all. That way we can see your reaction to what you talk about

Larissa cheek

😮 my god
