My second least favorite Angel episode (username notwithstanding)

2024-04-13 01:38:58 +0000 UTCNot one of my favorite episodes, there’s some interesting things sprinkled in there with the Shanshui Prophecy and Wes not remembering the father will kill the son prophecy. But the parallels between number 5 and Angel, while heavy handed, feels important. This episode reiterates the themes of the show and Angel’s mission statement as far as, the reasons they fight and why it’s important to be a hero even though as Holland Manners told Angel in season 2, you can’t ultimately defeat evil. It’s not a fight that you can ever “win or lose”. It’s about fighting the good fight and being a hero. And even though number 5 had given up the fight he ultimately died a hero and that’s what matters most.
