Hey guys! Been a few weeks! And I wanted to hit you guys up and let you know where we're at!
So in terms of assets/animation we're def over halfway. The image gallery attached doesn't include all the assets I've done (and even some of the shots above are not cleaned-up).
"Well this sure is taking a while!" Yes. And while there's been some not great news, there's also some very good news.

Not Great News : I thought $2k a month was enough to pay for clean up and backgrounds. I was so terribly wrong. If the clean up and backgrounds were more similar to a show like "Family Guy"... maybe. But the complexity of the project, detailed backgrounds, more complex character designs (relative to some simpler shows), calls for more skilled labor. And that comes at a price that (already paying out of pocket) I can't cover. So... I've been pretty much doing everything myself. A few backgrounds have been commissioned. [This is in no way asking for more support from you guys, please do not. The goal is to get more people on board, not squeeze more money out of current supporters!]

Very Good News : Firstly, I'm happy with how it's looking. Being the first chapter, it's important to establish a mood, and so there's been a bit more "animation" in this motion-comic than I anticipated.
This first chapter has also become quite a bit longer than I originally boarded out. So while it's taking longer, it's also going to be longer in watch-duration.
While I've been put in a position where I've had to pretty much do everything myself, the fact that we've made this much progress (with everything else going on) is actually promising for the future. If I personally can do all the work in 3-4 months (for a chapter this complex and long), then with the help of both a dedicated clean-up/background artist, the original goal of a 2-month production schedule actually seems to make a lot of sense.

So Now What? : I'm wrapping up a Cherry insurance animatic (one week of work), and have an animator on board to clean and color it, so while it will help pay bills it won't eat up a month of my time.
Other than that, I keep pushing to get Chapter 001 done as soon as possible. I already know Chapter 002 won't take nearly as long, due to it being in the desert (not nearly as many complex backgrounds), no rain and mist and other effects that ate up time learning and implementing.

With that, my friends, thank you again for your patience and support! I hope you're all healthy and being smart and safe wherever you may be. I'll likely kick out a video update for youtube once I got solid half done-done maybe with some vo/music/sfx to give a better sense of how it's coming together.
much love y'all!
