When the Jaguar E-Type Series 3 was first introduced in 1971, one of the most impressive and enticing alterations it featured was the brand new 5.3-litre Jaguar V12 engine. Based on the engine devised for the terminated Jaguar XJ13 model, the V12 engine cylinder head design was reworked into a production-ready version, to meet emission regulations before being installed, making its debut as the second-ever production engine design in Jaguarβs history. Some changes to the E-Typeβs interior components included uprated brakes and standard power steering, as well as the optional additions of an automatic transmission, wire wheels and air conditioning.
