Cleric - Archive Domain

Cleric - Divine Domain

Archive Domain

Clerics of the Archive Domain are devoted to the preservation and dissemination of knowledge, serving as custodians of the vast libraries of their deities. These clerics see knowledge as sacred—a flame to be carefully tended and passed on to others, ensuring that its light never fades. Through their divine connection, they can borrow knowledge and wisdom directly from their deity's celestial archive, granting them insights and abilities beyond mortal comprehension. They draw their power from knowledge, wisdom, and literature—both ancient and new—using it to guide their allies and unravel the mysteries of the world.

They act as teachers, scholars, and protectors of ancient texts and forgotten wisdom, believing that shared understanding can inspire, heal, and fortify entire civilizations. To these clerics, teaching and learning are acts of devotion, and their sacred mission is not only to preserve knowledge but to share it where it is most needed. Whether illuminating the minds of students, revealing hidden truths, or empowering their companions with lessons from the past, they wield their divine gifts as living embodiments of the pursuit of understanding.

Finally, my first subclass to share. Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I couldn't find the time to playtest this. So, in case anyone manages to convince their DM to allow them to use this homebrew, I would be grateful if you could share your experience and possibly give me some suggestions.

Thank you~

A new folder will be made for future Classes and Subclass; I'll also provide the document draft, which contains some of the older versions of the subclasses. They'll be in our Vault soon.

It's got a ton of varied uses that people will think of. Like escaping grapples

Connor Finnan

Oh that's true, although it does burn the channel divinity use, but most likely worth it. I guess that's also another reason why the other person who tested this (in the comment bellow) mention that Plannar Studies was their favorite option.

Sinlaire

Planar studies could also be used to bypass things like locked doors by looking through a keyhole/grate, get into a building without breaking or opening windows, get into sewers through drains. Really the list keeps going

Connor Finnan

thank you for your input~ :D a friend of mine tested it in a heist type oneshot a few days ago, they use the borrowed knowledge feature to borrow athletic proficiency from a paladin to climb a long rope and lending a few member of the party their stealth proficiency when they're infiltrating the place.

Finally had a chance to read it. Looks overpowered compared to anything else in 5e. But I am of the opinion that most other classes and subclasses were underpowered and did not offer weird enough stuff to realy be enjoyable, so this is great. It's solid in and out of combat, especially with the loaning and borrowing skill proficiencies, which I think are rough when we consider that there is likely little to no overlap so only one character will be effective in any given scenario. So this will grant a greater chance at success at say, smithing for example.

Connor Finnan

I'm happy to hear that~ I'm a bit surprised that the teleport has become a favorite; I wonder how it'll compare if they get access to the 6th and 8th-level options later. And that last part is the greatest compliment for me, thank you :D

Sinlaire

Seeing a Cleric cast Magic Missile against an enemy was an excellent surprise. The person using it ended up making an Arcana check with their WIS modifier and they were quite happy with it. They said they’d likely use the aura with the bonus action teleport more often than anything else. Another player mentioned it was similar to the Knowledge cleric, but better. Overall, lots of fun (and the DM who NEVER lets third party content into his game said he’d be happy to see it show up again!).

C Heisserer

Oooh thank you~~! Is there any comment, suggestion, complains, critique, that you can give to any aspect of the subclass?

Sinlaire

Just played with this subclass last night at level 5. It worked out very well!

C Heisserer

Oh, I'll add it the PDF into the folder in the Vault soon.

Sinlaire

Could we get this as a PDF? I love the idea

Sebastian Van Den Dungen

This is absolutely amazing, wow

Nix Nyte

You really are just gradually expanding lore. Love it

Connor Finnan

Thats really cool

Moony

This is awesome! I wanna play this so bad!

Moony
