THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING?? Tensura (Tensei Slime) Season 3 Episode 5 Reaction! (UNCUT VERSION)

...,.................................................................................... SPOILER.......................................................................... I am still working some things out, but I went back to Volume 7, specifically Hinata's meeting. I made sure I knew exactly what it said about this. Ok, I can confirm Luminus is definitely awakened. It also says that Leon, (probably a Hero-- my addition), reincarnated as a Majin, retaining his memories. I don't think he also had an awakening as a Demon Lord, as you say. Maybe you take your Hero-ness with your soul. They said awakening makes you a True Saint. I confirmed that Hinata is the only awakened true Saint among the Ten Saints. Collectively they are called the Enlightened. It can include Summoned Otherworlders from outside the Ten Great Saints, outside the Church. Humans, when overcoming a grueling task or training sometimes evolve, and they become longer-lived, a semi-spiritual being, and, of course, much stronger. This, according to some, is the "right" way to evolve. The Seven Luminaries "surpass... the realm of Enlightened", and are supposed to train Heroes. The trial Hinata underwent that Luminus directed her to do is a trial meant to select Heroes. Hinata thought she had nothing to learn from them afterwards (she copied their Skills). ........ Now more about Demon Lords. In mythology, it is known that Guy and Milim went on rampages. Rimuru has done that too. Awakening "happens when a potential Demon Lord... engineers massive destruction, taking in the souls of the dead. Evolution beyond imagination would result." Evolution to true demon lords "could take place across several levels. It left some demon lords as powerful as dragons, and Luminus wondered if Guy and Milim had evolved beyond that. Even Luminus, a true demon lord, had no chance against them." Luminus believed that Rimuru is still in the midst of awakening."

No problem at all! Thank you as well. I enjoy discussing Tensura very much so it is great to be able to with you. ......SPOILERS....... Yeah if you are on vol 10 in your reread, then you are getting close to revisiting the arcs where they discuss Hinata's hero egg and what happens with it, that takes place in vol 11 and the beginning of 12 if I remember correctly. I think Spiritrons (spiritual particles) were first mentioned in like vol 7 (maybe? or maybe 5?) in connection with Holy Magic and such. so yeah I agree it really is like piecing together information from lots of different places! I really enjoy how Tensura slowly and consistently builds on things mentioned whole volumes beforehand. The world building and power system are very well thought out and executed! And as far as I am aware, it is not a requirement that a human reach the level of Saint to attain a Hero Egg. However it certainly wouldn't hurt haha. True Hero is also often called Chosen Hero because it requires being Chosen by the spirits. And maybe Saints have a higher chance of being chosen because they have the power to impress the spirits or something who knows haha

..................................................................................... SPOILERS ............................................. ................................... Ok, I forgot about Enlightened so I forgot to incorporate that into my theory so I'll have to reconsider. I knew about the awakened such as Kondo, etc. and how it happened. I forgot or I didn't think they were awakened Saints, however. I have to think about that later when I get to that part of my reread. Isn't spiritrons a variant translation of spiritual particle? Though I just read about this, I already forget for sure, but I thought the spiritual particles was a more fundamental particle that makes up magicules, but that doesn't mean necessarily that they interact well with each other. (Either that or they are completely different from each other. I am going to look this up now.) The most basic particle is the information particle. We haven't gotten there yet. I didn't know that a Hero was not an evolved human in some way, but I am pretty sure that I saw mention somewhere that there is something called a Hero Seed. Didn't Hinata have one? Wouldn't that imply an evolution is necessary? Or am I mixing that up with Saints? But I agree that Heroes require a spirit (light or dark), and the blessing from the Queen of Spirits. ........ By the way, thanks for letting me discuss this with you. I am always trying to improve my understanding of Tensura, but there is a lot of information scattered throughout the source, trying to put it together is challenging, and sometimes I think I am trying to reconcile things the author changed his mind about, or the confusion results from inconsistent translation.

myst0dreamer

However I do agree with you. It does seem strange that a human and spirit merging basically makes a monster, but that's just the way it is haha I do not fully understand the 'why?' of it either.

Daniel Meissner

..............Spoilers............... There is a difference between complete Saints and heroes. Becoming a hero requires BOTH being chosen by an elemental of light or darkness AND receiving the Spirit Queen's blessing. A saint is an evolutionary stage for humans that can be attained without the involvement of a spirit. Think of people like Yuuki and Tatsuya Kondou when you think of complete saints. It is attained when an Enlightened individual (the step before Saint) pushes their mind, body, and soul to the absolute limit and breaks the threshold to become a Spiritual Lifeform. We see Yuuki do this when fighting Guy. Also I'm not sure if this answers the questions at the end of your comment, but there is a different type of particle called a 'Spiritron.' Just as Magicules are the building blocks and power of all demonic life, Spiritrons are the building blocks of all Spiritual matter. And as I understand it, this 'Spiritual matter' Includes things like magicules, holy energy and the aura of living beings. So that is to say, magicules are made of the same things that Spirits are made of. There are differences, but there is a fundamental relationship between the two. I cannot say for sure that that's why merging with a spirit causes a human to become a majin (demonoid) but that is my theory.

Daniel Meissner

.................,...................................................... SPOILERS ........................................................................ In Volume 4, the definition of demonic (not demon), is anyone who subsists on magicules. When Leon got the spirit, it was supposed to be on the path to becoming a hero. I just confirmed in my reread that the 10 Great Saints use spirits, none of them seem to be awakened, but I also confirmed that elementalist humans also use spirits. I am conjecturing that an awakened Saint is what a Hero is, except you need Ramiris's blessing. Ramiris was the Queen of Spirits, and even now can't get a Demon Lord Seed, which I took to mean an affinity for the holy. In general I see spirits as mostly on the human side of the conflict. Still there are some contradictions. Merging with Ifrit would make Shizu a Majin, but she never fully merged with him, but I guess she was a temporary Majin? Where does Treyni fit? Hinata's body rejects magicules, yet she has spirits at her command. So what I am trying to to say is that it seems that magicules and spiritual particles seem to be mutually exclusive. Maybe not completely, but philosophically. If so, then how did a merger between a light spirit and a human produce a demonoid? Aren't light spirits supposed to be even more "holy" than other spirits? (Which brings up the unanswered question of just who is that light spirit that inhabited Kenya?) Is Leon just a Hero who happens to be in the Octogram? But still, he's a demonoid.

myst0dreamer

..............SPOILERS................ I am not sure exactly when Deeno was corrupted by magicules and became a fallen. We know that he was tasked as an 'observer' by Veldanava and traveled the Cardinal World along with Pico and Garasha. And we also know that these three (Deeno, Pico and Garasha) are the only three Fallen we know in the series. So I suppose it is possible that their corruption happened at some point during their travels before Veldanava was killed. Fallen entirely lose their status as Holy beings and are essentially just very powerful monsters. They have a completely different nature to angels. So Deeno does not retain any holy nature like Ramiris did. I believe the reason Ramiris' case is different than Deeno's and she cannot awaken as a True Demon Lord is because of the cycle of death and rebirth that she is constantly going through. She was corrupted by Milim and Guy's magicules, but I think she was basically so powerful and had such an important role to play for the world that she was somewhat able to resist completely falling? I am not entirely sure either but we know Ramiris naturally gains her full Spirit Queen power back over time and then loses it all again and basically dies to be reborn as the pixie we know and love. So to me it seems she hasn't completely fallen from grace. Leon is also sort of an interesting case. A demonoid is a hybrid between a human and some sort of monster. Meaning it is a general term for beings that are both human and majin. That being said, and I have no proof for this, but it seems to me that demonoids might be able to take both paths to awakening. Meaning they could either become a True Demon Lord or a True Hero. Leon became a demonoid when he basically merged with the greater elemental of light that he contracted. He is a human/spirit hybrid. He acquired and hatched a hero egg so that is the path Leon took. I am almost certain you cannot be BOTH an awakened hero and an awakened demon lord, so that is why Leon cannot attain or awaken a demon lord seed.

Daniel Meissner

I have read further than Volume 10, I am currently rereading. But I haven't read 19 or 20 and missed a few bits earlier on. Since writing this, I went back to Volume 6 and read--again! about Demon Lords. So it was kind of vague but I did see they referred to: .............. SPOILERS AHEAD!! .............,.............................. ............................................ ............................................ Luminus and Deeno as awakened. How they awakened was not something I knew. (Although about Deeno, the explanation you give looks the same as the explanation given for what happened to Ramiris, being exposed to demonic and draconic magicules, but she was unable to get a Seed because of her nature. Is that not true for Deeno? The angels were already corrupted, so maybe that was why it's possible? Is that what is meant by Fallen? Otherwise, if the killing of so many people is what made him Fallen instead, wouldn't that be in the wrong sequence, that is, obtaining a Seed after killing? Maybe the events occurred simultaneously?) I had realized one factor in the Demon Lords' strength is also their base strength, what they started as. Rimuru is now awakened, but doesn't match the strength of Guy or Milim. They emphasize that the six oldest demon lords have gained experience through many Tenma Wars, and gained Ultimate Skills (though I can't remember or don't know about 2 of them. Leon, I know about his Skill, and you could maybe say he was awakened, just not as a demon lord, but as a Hero before, which accounts for his strength. But Volume 6 seems to say he isn't awakened. But somehow he became a demonoid. I did know about some of Luminus's history with Veldora and having to move. I have frequently lamented that the anime hasn't told us that Ultimate Skills are the crucial things they are, when it's been common knowledge since Volume 5. Much of the story revolves around this fact, and the anime only people are missing a highly explanatory bit of info. I hope they say it soon.

myst0dreamer

Also you are correct in thinking the level of skills plays a much greater importance than the anime makes it seem. The only way to counter an Ultimate skill is with another Ultimate skill. That is to say, if someone uses an Ultimate skill, all lower level skills are essentially meaningless in front of them. However, the anime kinda just glosses over this fact when it informs us that Rimuru has acquired 4 of them lol

Daniel Meissner

Sorry that was super long haha I went on a bit of a rant

Daniel Meissner

I really don't mean to "put you in your place." I just love slime and enjoy sharing what I know. I see you said you are currently on Vol 10, pretty much all of the explanation I am about to give comes from beyond that point, so don't feel the need to read all of this if you want to discover for yourself. EVERYONE!!! FAIR WARNING: WHAT I AM ABOUT TO TYPE CONTAINS LN SPOILERS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. The other awakened Demon Lords in the Octagram are Deeno and Luminus. The others (Ramiris, Leon and Dagruel) physically cannot awaken as true demon lords because of their own backstories and racial features that I will not get into here unless you would like to know. However, that does not mean they are any less powerful than awakened Demon Lords. Yes, Luminus is awakened like Guy and Milim, but she is still able to recognize that their power far surpasses hers. Not everyone who has reached the same evolutionary stage will have the same level of power. We can see an example of this in the True Dragons. For thousands of years, Veldora was so hopelessly inferior to his sisters that he developed trauma from their violence towards him. Back to Luminus: remember that fight between Guy and Milim (when Milim evolved to a TDL) that devastated the lands and lasted for a week? That happened literally right next to Luminus' domain. And she has interacted closely with them for thousands of years. She knows their power. Now, as for how Luminus and Deeno awakened: Luminus lived as a vampire who fed off of humans for tens of thousands of years. Even if she only killed one human per year, she would have her awakening and we know she did much more than that. Her religion, Luminism, was only created because the vampires discovered that humans who live happy lives produce better tasting blood and they need less of it to feed. However, this religion was not made until AFTER Veldora destroyed Night Garden and the Vampires relocated to the current Lubelius. Which was a couple thousand years ago. The vampires did not spare or raise humans until that point. Sure, humans were viewed as a valuable source of food, so when Veldora attacked Night Garden, the vampires were thinking of it like a farmer protecting his cattle. But, until Luminism was founded, the vampires killed the humans they fed on. Luminus included. So she has certainly killed or been responsible for the deaths of well over tens of thousands of humans. The humans in the current Lubelius are not even aware that they are being used for food. Hinata also has gotten assurance from Luminus that humans will not be harmed when vampires feed now, but that was not the case for the tens of thousands of years before Luminism. We get the answer to Deeno's awakening when we look at his backstory. Deeno is a Fallen. Fallen are a race of angels who have been corrupted by magicules and it is basically the monster equivalent to angels. He became a Fallen when Veldanava was killed and in his rage he unleashed his Ultimate Skill and wiped out the human nation that he viewed as responsible for Veldanava's death as revenge. Keep in mind, a Demon Lord seed is obtained automatically. It is basically just proof that a monster is powerful enough to evolve to a true demon lord. The instant Deeno was corrupted by magicules and became a Fallen, he would have acquired a Demon Lord Seed. And Luminus most likely had one since birth. She was created as Twilight Valentines most remarkable creation and is basically considered to be a sort of clone or alter ego to Twilight Valentine herself. So any humans Luminus has killed over her incredibly long life, or that Deeno killed in his rage, would nourish their seeds and cause them to awaken.

Daniel Meissner

To MonograhicSingleheaded, whose explanation or what explanation are you referring to? Thanks

myst0dreamer

I dont think there was anything wrong or weird with that explanation btw. :) the subs were ok imho.

MonographicSingleheaded

Yeah, that's what I thought at first, that maybe they are referring to the time of Veldora's rampage, for example. But even Luminus feels inferior to Guy and Milim? What exactly separates them, then? Is it being awakened, as they say? Or maybe Luminus wasn't awakened yet back then? But the more I thought about it, I wonder if we (or I) misinterpreted the novels. I admit I haven't read every last bit the published novels, but I was pretty sure of what you are saying, but I don't remember actually reading anything that explained how Leon or Luminus, or Deeno got to be awakened, if they did. Was there an incident where they collected a vast quantity of souls? It actually seems to be against their characters. For instance, wasn't Luminus protecting the humans from Veldora? What reasons did the others have? I realize it also contradicts Rimuru's character, so maybe they did do something major, I don't know. (I know the others are special cases.) Maybe I forgot or missed it. I am rereading the novels now (I am on Volume 10), so now I will look for this information. That's why I am wondering if we were meant to give Skills an even greater relative importance than we already were, because these Demon Lords (like Luminus) definitely are/were a tier above the former Demon Lords like Carrion or Clayman. Or maybe it's something else even. I'm open to exploring this, but maybe someone will put me in my place very soon 😉.

myst0dreamer

I do not think what they meant by that is that Guy and Milim are the ONLY two awakened Demon Lords before Rimuru. I think they were saying these two (Guy and Milim) are not people Luminus can control and now Rimuru has awakened just like them. Notice how they also did not mention the other catastrophe class beings that exist, just Veldora. They worded it weirdly, but I think they were just listing a few individuals Luminus deems as uncontrollable to compare them to the level of power Rimuru has seemingly attained. It was not meant to be a comprehensive list of all awakened demon lords. (As people who have read the novels we know that they are not the only awakened at this point)

Daniel Meissner

Well, now I've watched it. One thing is that there are 2 groups of people around that conference table. The six on one side are the Paladins, they work for the church. They are loyal to Hinata. The other side are the Master Rooks, who work for Lubelius. Their loyalty is not so much to Hinata. Each of them are in charge of units of their own. .... . Revealing that only Guy, Milim, and now Rimuru are awakened Demon Lords: that actually surprises me, because I know that the other remaining Demon Lords are much stronger than Carrion, Frey, and Clayman, so I thought it was solely because of the latter group's Demon Lord Seed status. If that's wrong, then there must be another thing separating the middle tier of Demon Lords from those three lower level ones. I would guess it's their Skills that elevate them. ..... I was expecting something to go down in the next couple of episodes, but there still were a couple of required bits of set up. We have seen most of it now.

myst0dreamer

I only saw your initial commentary so far but I just have to stop to say, Yes! I completely agree! Did everyone forget how many episodes it took to get to the action in season 2? We could look at Season 1 and 2 as being one huge arc of Tempest growing from obscurity to international notice. Now we are there we have to establish the new rules, the new environment, the new actors, not just individuals, but also factions, organizations, and nations. Important to make sure people understand the intricacies to get the implications of everything in this next phase. The word world-building is accurate. And I can't get over how many people can't see that we are seeing action, except the maneuvers are all verbal. And they are trying to solve mysteries. Everyone has a motive or a contribution to the gestalt.

myst0dreamer

I fkin love how your mind works. I said it many a time but once again, listening to your insights is pure pleasure for my ears. :) Thanks Zach. u add a lot for me to my enjoyment. and remember, everything here makes sense towards the bigger picture.

MonographicSingleheaded

HELL YES THIGS ARE GAINING MOMENTUM ! best possible way to appproach this adaptation, slowly to let all the necessary build up sink in.
