Utter trash, utter sadness, utter despair. Two days later and I’m still so mad right now. Like why on this goddamn green Earth would they have me wait all season for them to get back together. All this “let the couple make up” and Tara dies in the same damn spot. Utter JAIL CELL.
Normally I try to reframe myself from cursing to the extreme or talking out of anger. But I’ve never been this mad in my life. So yes, I’ll be saying fuck a lot. Also screaming and defending Buffy the whole episode.

Oh, I'm so sorry, Naj. Seeing Red is notoriously difficult. I remember just staring in shock for quite a while it was over. I'm the same age as Buffy and I watched it when it first aired, and I'd never seen anything close to that scene with Spike and Buffy in the bathroom. SA just wasn't tackled as much back then, especially not in material aimed at teens, and never this graphically. There are definitely examples of the writers handling sexual violence badly in the Buffyverse (the ep with Cordelia being impregnated with alien babies stands out, although I remember that not a single one of my friends considered that SA at the time), but believe it or not, their depiction of Spike and Warren is really progressive for mainstream media at the time. Spike/Buffy was the first time I'd seen a show take the subject of partner SA seriously. And that's nothing compared to how it felt to lose Tara at Warren's hands. Nerd culture has always had a misogynistic undertone, but I'd never seen anyone confront it before, let alone on regular TV, let alone years before GamerGate. I love the fact that S6 doesn't flinch from the real costs of misogyny, but that doesn't make it any easier to watch.

She is about to lose her mind and can’t blame her. Attempting to rape Buffy in the bathroom was disgusting. You definitely have picked up on the overly misogynistic writing here and on Angel as well.
