Hey everyone! So I just wanted to share some bits of the writing process with you guys since the latest chapter was one of those chapters that had a good bit of reworking done on it, to the point where the entire intro to it was rewritten. I just wanted to show how my writing process goes, and because this intro was one that I find interesting to read still, I wanted to share it with you guys! :D

Just as it was hard to get into the headspace for combat, so too was it difficult to get out of it. This was especially true when the dust of battle had just barely settled, and a curveball of a question now landed in your court with the expectation of immediate response.

The last vestiges of the null had barely just vanished, the trees damaged in the battle were still creaking and groaning, my HUD was still very much stuck in its tactical configuration; which just added to the overall tonal whiplash that was the groundskeeper’s line of questioning.

I just shot a fucking monster.

I just saw someone being crushed in front of me.

I just saw the gruesome realities of what it meant to lose a fight.

And I was still expected to get my head back in the diplomatic rat race?

Without even a moment to get my headspace in order?

I took a deep breath, steadying myself as I took my time in processing the groundskeeper’s words.

Perhaps too much time, as the man seemed to have taken notice of my silence, and got down on a single knee in an attempt to meet my gaze on the same level.

“Hey there. This erm, your first taste of proper combat I reckon?” The man asked, his tone had shifted slightly, but drastically enough that the questioning inquisitiveness had given way to a more concerned, empathetic undertone.
